digital tv question...

OK i have internet and phone with insight now and thinking about adding cable tv. They have Digital Choice(81channels) with 6HD channels for $15/mo but it looks like you have to pay $15/mo for an HD box and $5/mo for a digital box per room. Also they have Digital Cable (181 channels) for $30/mo. Damn that can get expensive adding an HD box, and 3 digital boxes plus the cost of the cable itself. any thoughts?

[Need Info] Wierd question for those in Central Ohio..

Hello,
I am currently living around Easton, but with me now working over in Dublin now, and well neighborhood has gone downhill in the last couple of years.. so anyhow..

How far northwest can i move and still keep Insight, i refuse to move anywhere i have to drop Insight to go to Time Warner, and am just wondering from anyone else around here how far i can move and still keep Insight?

I was looking over around Sawmill rd area, but i have to get Time Warner there, and needless to say by past experiences with TWC and friends with them currently, i really do not mind adding a couple of miles to my drive to work so i know my services at home will actually work :)

Thanks!

[CATV] Frustrated with Insight Cable - Louisville

I switched out a bad DVR box this week and replaced it with a new one. I now have two 6416 boxes in my house. I had trouble activating the box so I called Support. They activated the box and told me I could get HBO free for July. I took them up on this offer and they activated the channel.

After activating, all I get is "Channel will be available shortly". The tech offered to send someone out, but I said NO. I am in a new house (three years old in a new area in Middletown). Last year I had issues with "blocks" on the screen. Insight came out and fixed it...but then my Internet went bad. They kept coming out and adjusting but never seemed to get it right. They said my signal was good, but for some reason my Internet was bad (after they made adjustments). I was supposed to get a call from a manager, but never did. Insight did something and it started working.

Now I am thinking about having Insight come out and take a look at the HBO problem. I am having a group of people over on July 11 to watch the UFC 100 PPV. I have not ordered a PPV before and am now scared about my signal. How embarrassing to have a group over and the PPV not work. If HBO does not work, I have a feeling the PPV may not. But I am scared that Insight will change something and then the Internet go down. My wife works from home and that CANNOT happen.

I really do not know what to do. I am hoping an Insight technician may know what is going on or someone else here.

Thanks...

[Other] Why Is Customer Service So Difficult

Our local office hasn’t been handling calls for a long while now. Our local number transfers calls go to the Evansville office. So to get any information or talk to anyone you have to go through person to person to person etc.

As many know in the long past know I had alot of issues with insight. It took Mike and some others to get things rolling and fixed. Things have been fine since... cept for one thing. The DVR box. As like many of you I have issues with it freezing and locking up. However the new thing as of late has been recording for hours non stop. You will say to record a show thats one hour and it will record for 5 hours. Its not a setting problem it happens out of the blue.

Well with the internet problem yesterday (6-23-09) I finally got the heart up to call knowing how things are. I talked about the internet .. but I also talked about our DVR boxes. It was kinda a kill many birds with one stone. I was clear and explained things. even they agreed. So I was transferred to my local office and we sent up a appointment for today 8am-10am for them to come out and replace the boxes. So I set things up and wait.

Now yesterday they were going to send someone out (later afternoon) about the internet but the problem was so in and out as Ive experienced in the past they would show up when its working and nothing could be done. So while I was talking to the local office we get things setup about the DVR boxes.

It was set originally for (6-25-09) however she then said tomorrow (6-24-09) and I even repeated it, and we set the time 8am to 10am so All good and dandy. So while waiting, Its after ten I hadn’t heard anything and in the past they had called and told me they are usually late etc and would be there.

So I called and checked and the automation said my appointment was for 6-25-09. I was like what!! So I talked to a CSR and explained to her what happened .. of course never being able to talk to my local office myself. (The person to person thing again) She said that they had called me and said they changed things (which never happened) .. and started off with the crap of this and that.

So here we are back to the original reason WHY i have NOT wanted to call in the first place, and have delt with the boxes being crap. However given the fact after Mike and the regional manager got involved in the issues from last time things would be settled here but I can see it has not. What made me even more disappointed was Ive taken time for all this and just got a Im sorry.

I did let rep know I am VERY displeased about things, What upsets me more is the lack of from insights part for this. I spend over hundred and something a month for service and then to be told things and get shelved.. if this was only one time it wouldn’t be a big deal but this is one of many. I haven’t asked for much but I can see it is. Communication in wires may work but voice is a real problem with them.

[Connectivity] Intermittent Connectivity in Radcliff, KY

Hello everyone, this is my first post after reading these boards for a few months. I have a connectivity issue that started back in november or december (been a while). Was hoping I could get some answers here. I've spoken to phone support and have also had techs come out to my house on at least 4 occasions. They have also ran multiple monitors for all different kinds of durations ranging from a day to 5 days. Insight says that they can't get information from the monitor because my modem doesn't stay off-line long enough. I am on the 10meg connection.

The issue is that randomly at any time of day i will lose connection for just a few seconds but it is enough to disconnect me from any games I'm playing or voice communication, even web-sites/streaming. since december I have kept a constant ping running to google just kind of give me an idea when I'm about to get kicked off. 95% of the time it takes 3 timeouts to google before my connection comes back. while this happens the modem lights do not change. they're all lit up like they didn't miss a beat. I've even connected a laptop to my neighbors wireless and theirs disconnects at the same time mine does(hopefully this rules out anything in my house but the techs don't seem to want to believe me or just cant grasp that the issue is not particular to just my home.)

Here is what I've done as far as troubleshooting.
-replaced modem
-disconnected router
-different computers
-replaced cable line coming from outside the house into the splitter that leads to the tv/cable modem (that was fun)
-disconnected splitter and run the cable from outside straight to the modem.
-tech came out and replaced the line from the pole to the house as well as a "tap plate?" which would seem to be the device that takes the main cable line on the pole and splits it to different houses in the area.

I know this is kind of long winded but I'm wanting to be as thorough and include as much information as possible. I'm desperately trying to get this issue resolved and am hoping you all could give me some ideas.

Jasper Feeds off Evansville Issues

About 4am EST this morning, I was online and suddenly my internet went down. It has been on and off all day. I finally called and they could get a guy out here to look at it and they even confirmed that they could not connect.

This has no only effected cable but TV as well. However the issues like others in the past is intermitted and of course its on and off, they could have someone out here but like now its "on" and it seems nothing is wrong. Which we all know if someone comes out it will work. So Im just posting to see if anyone else is having the same issues like maybe its something we can track down.
