[Tomato] Linksys WRT-54GSv1 Tomato 1.28

I am currently using a 25/2 Internet connection through
this old but trusty router, And thinking about maybe trying a
45/4 connection plan. But first I was wondering before I do
that does anyone know of a specialized firmware for my model,
that is optimized for speed. That may be able to handle 45/4,
As my speedtest on 25/2 through router is usually ~28/1.98

I was told from someone else that I may have to find that specialized firmware optimized for speed. And cannot find the post
here. I was wondering if anyone else would know anything about
it?

Or does someone else think this router may be able to handle
that kinda connection plan without the mods, As I use very little
ram. And don't use the wireless feature at all.

Thanks.

[Wired] IPS use on RVS4000...

I'm using RVS4000 "Small Business" Linksys Routers, and I've been pretty happy with them....

Comcast recently gave people an increase in speed, and though upload increased to where it should, download didn't.

I saw another posting here on how another Linksys router's IPS system slowed down the system, and disabled it on my system, and what do you know..... The Download speed that Comcast gave was instantly seen!!

So.... The thread I'm starting wants to deal with the Question....

"What do you lose by turning off IPS?"

Everything works fine with IPS Enabled.... I have it on now...

I know if I turn it off, speeds will increase... I've done that test... It follows the switch....

I'm wondering what the security ramifications would be by turning it (IPS) off...

I am running the latest/Last firmware and IPS Signature, but that signature is a couple years old I believe.

Thanks, and I hope there are a lot of comments to this....

EA4500, SB6141, TWC: Unstable connection

I'm having a weird issue with my new EA4500 router. Ever since I installed it, my internet connection has been unstable. It will go down every few minutes, come back up, be slow for some of the time it's up, go back down, come back up but slow, be nice for a little bit, etc lather, rinse, repeat.

Of course, if I pull it out and put in the old router, or if I connect it directly to the PC, there are no problems. So, I did what seemed logical: assumed I'd gotten a lemon, and got a replacement. I hooked up the replacement and got hit with the same problem. It seemed unlikely that I would get two identical lemons, so now I dig a little bit. No matter what, I can always access the modem's configuration page, so it doesn't seem like an issue with the WAN port on the router. Instead, it's an issue for accessing anything on the other side of the modem.

Any thoughts?

WRT54GS (external antenna 12db) Running DD-WRT help

Ok so I have a,

Linksys WRT54GS V2
Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std
TQJ-2400AT1 (eternal antenna) 12 db Omni (LINK TO SPECS BELOW)

http://www.kenbotong.com/data/2010/f/www.fs101028.com/db_pictures/201207/06/1341566548300473.pdf

What I am trying to do is increase my wifi coverage. I live on 5 acres of land, only a few trees on the back side of the property. The front side of the property is the beach and ocean. I have the WRT54GS located in an out building in the middle of the property. On the out building I have the TQJ-2400AT1 attached to a pole that is 5 feet taller then the roof. I have the cable from the TQJ-2400AT1 connected to the left side of the WRT54GS. (When look at the front of the WRT54GS).

In the DD-WRT admin panel (wireless, advanced settings) I have it to LEFT antenna Rx Left antenna TX. All other are settings are set to factory default. (What else should be changed to make the most of the TQJ-2400AT1)

Now with everything setup this way I don’t seem to see any difference in the signal strength, then before I installed to TQJ-2400AT1.

So the question I’m asking is how can I get the TQJ-2400AT1 to function at its optimal ability? (What changes do I need to make in the admin settings in DD-WRT)
Xmit Power, Beacon Interval, DTIM Interval, Noise Reference???? ECT….

Thanks for you time.

[DD-WRT] Connection Type Static IP - Invalid Subnet Msg

I installed the latest dd-wrt DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/15/13) and have a fixed IP from Brighthouse. When I attempt to save the subnet of 255.255.255.252 I get an invalid subnet msg.

This is a new install for me. Am I missing a setup step when using a static connection with DD-WRT? I even attempted to set NVRAM subnet using the command, but that did not resolve my issue.

My stock router works fine using the fixed setting. Any info is appreciated.
