HELP- Magic Jack can't call local ISP area code

Here's what happened. Minnesota VOIP problems. I am in a rural area and my only ISP is DSL in the Area code 320. My free landline calling area within 320 is very small geographically like a 10 mile radius, a sixteenth of my county. Although the area assigned to 320 is almost ¼ of Minnesota….thanks to the pathetic utilities commission and the FTC in cahoots with Citizens Communications http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_code_320 .

I can call my tiny service area in 320-684-xxxx and 320-676-xxxx. with my cell phone but not with my VOIP Magic Jack. My Magic Jack with an assigned number of 952-xxx-xxxx gets a busy signal when calling from my area code 320 DSL landline base …Citizens Communications-Frontier Telephone lines like 320-684-xxxx and 320-676-xxxx. . Is my ISP (Frontier) blocking VOIP on my local exchange? Magic Jack has no customer support.

Thieving, bad customer service, & people can't hear me

I don't really like MAgic Jack, although it is nice to have a US number in another country. Here are the reasons why.

If they could fix these problems, then they would be great.

1. Thieves. They stole my money. I paid $19.95 for International Service. I cannot access it, and it keeps trying to get me to buy it again.

2. Bad Customer Service. I tried to do online chat. They hung up on me and then I couldn't connect again. And there's no number to call, so you can't get any help when you need it.

3. I often have the problem of the other side not being able to hear me. I can hear them great. They can't hear me at all, or only a bit, so they hang up. (By the way, I'm using the App for Iphone)

MJ+ setup with router?

Are you able to set it up with out installing software or any thing? Basically just plug it into the router and go? Or is their some automated system when first using it if going that route is possible for setup? And what about keeping the same number. Free or a charge? I currently have a couple cell phones and have phone service through my cable isp. So looking into MJ+.

Where do you find subscription details now

Wanted to check the expiration date on a couple of MJs that I have but can no longer find anywhere in my account details that shows that.
Anybody have any hints as to where I might find them.

It's an intriguing login screen at my.magicjack.com now, looks like an effort at making hard to login. Once you select the userid field it sort of disappears and some kind of flashing dropdown appears and no typed keys are visible. Finally worked out that the type keys are actually there but you can see them until you go to the password field. Thought it was my browser but got the same effect on a couple of other machines too.

I guess they messed around with registered 2nd phone details as part of the latest advertising makeover of MJ splash. Went to use my home phone for an international call (registered 2nd phone for many months) and was told I had no credit. Had plenty of credit so used a regular phone attached to the dongle instead. Had wanted to change the reg phone to my cell phone anyway so when I finally found out how to get into my account went to the reg phone entry and found it blank so just entered my cell phone number. The access number they sent in response is the same as for a regular land line.

"GVJack App" Converts MJ Dongles To Google Voice

Starting this time next month (mid February 2012), you will be able to fully "re-purpose" any new, used or expired regular MJ dongle and switch to Google Voice's free calling services using the new downloadable "GVJack App" from PCPhoneSoft.com.

The "GVJack App" is designed to provide a featured landline calling experience. When placing calls while your computer is also in use, everything is processed quietly in the background without the use of popups and display screens so you can focus on your work.

To place a call, pick up the handset and use your phone's keypad to dial the number. When somebody calls your Google Voice number just answer your phone when it rings. You will also be able to use the same phone for online voice and video chats via Skype, Yahoo and Facebook.

Popular features including 7 digit local area dialing, caller id name and number delivery, call waiting and voice mail waiting indicators are currently undergoing rigorous testing in the lab and are working well. In addition, Google Voice has its own built in features for screening incoming calls.

Computer assisted calling is also supported. When you are surfing online, you will also be able to click on any phone number found on a given webpage to place a call. The "GVJack APP" is also designed to let you instantaneously access your online Google Voice account to send and receive SMS text messages.

While more expensive standalone solutions have their own merits, the additional redundancy that Google Voice offers make it an ideal fit for lower cost USB based hardware solutions. For example, Google Voice provides the flexibility to simultaneously ring your mobile phone when somebody calls. This redundancy means that you can continue to receive calls on your mobile phone even when your computer is powered off.

You will be able to download the "GVJack App" and try the full version with your regular MJ dongle for up to 7 days to see if it meets your needs prior to purchase. The one time software purchase will be significantly less than the price of a standard 1 year MJ service subscription.

WORST Customer Service Ever!

HORRIBLE live chat support. Took forever to get someone, then they did not seem to have any idea how to solve the problem. The chat lasted more than 30 minutes with very long pauses between communications. I am returning my Magic Jack Plus and getting my credit card reimbursed. When Magic Jack says "Tell Your Friends", you bet I will. I could NEVER recommend Magic Jack to anyone - ever - with such loousy support. The advertisement says that you can use the Magic Jack Plus without a computer. Well, you can't. The customer service person said it must be conneted to my modem or router, which is connected to my computer. False advertising, I'd say. What a waste and a disappointment!

Hidden Price Increase?

My notice of this price increase was an email in my spam box from "no reply" and titled, "immediate attention required." In short, it looked just like a whole bunch of spam scams and I nearly ignored it.

Is that what MJ wanted so I'd miss the savings deadline? Then, if I protested a 50%+ increase, they could say, well, we told you?

What about it, MJ. Don't you have a copywriter who can communicate clearly...if that's what you wanted to do?
