Having trouble setting my NAT type to "open" on xbox live

i have a Motorola SBG900 modem/router
here is what i have tried so far:
i have forwarded the ports 88 2074 and 3074, made a manual ip address on the network settings on the 360 console.

i retested xboxlive connection and it still failed, it said it may be filtering out the mac address

i found somthin on my router about a mac address bypassing the firewall and i entered in the 360 mac address and enabled yes allow access or somthin like that. still failed xbl test.

what else should i try?

can SBG900 handle traffic for non DHCP clients

Hello - Have a SBG900 that am using DHCP for 192.168.1.81 - 240.
Question -- I cannot seem to be able to get non DHCP clients, ie., 192.168.1.75 to access the internet. No matter what I try for those that I set up that are outside the DHCP range: setting the DNS and gateway manually or any other setting, I cannot get the 900 to pass a packet from that address to the internet. Is this only for the 900? Or is it true for other routers. Seems to me that if I point a static client to the gateway (.1) the 900 should pass the packet and remember the ip address of the sender.
BTW, the 900 has been operational for about 2 years with one crash, and handles around 100 DHCP clients on a regular basis. (Tempting fate?)
TIA! For any insights.

SB5101N vs SB5101U

Hi,
I've just received some SB5101N modems, they don't connect on my cable plan. I'm using S-CDMA only modulation (pure DOCSIS 2.0 mode). The firmware that came with the modem is SB5101NU-2.1.1.0-GA-01-83-NOSH, this seem pretty old to me.

All my modem are SB5101, never had problem to initially connect and update firmware. My dealer told me the N version is replacing the SB5101. A quick search and I found there is a SB5101U model that in fact is the exact model replacing the original SB5101 (include a USB port). I don't want to reconfigure my CMTS with mixmode modulations just to update these N modems.

Do you know which firmware is shipping with the U version? Can it be use with pure DOCSIS 2.0 modulations?

Thanks,

Motorola 2210 Lock Up Issue

Hey All-
I did some searching and didn't find exactly the same issue from others as I was having, but I may be searching for the wrong thing.

Recently I've been having issues with my Motorola 2210 resetting itself. It started out happening about once every 2 or 3 weeks. Now it seems to be happening multiple times a day. The modem is not actively cooled, but it has plenty of room around it for air to flow, etc.

When the modem fails, the only light that is still on is the Power Light, which almost appears to be pulsating. The only way to reset the modem is to pull the power adapter out of the rear of the modem. Ironically, pulling the power adapter out of the wall doesn't seem to have any affect (which is really odd to me).

After pulling the power for a split second and plugging it back in, everything goes back to working fine until the next failure.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

[PROGRAMMING?] HT1000

What kind of programming (if anything) is required to use this radio in an existing network of HT1000 and CP100 radios? We use channel 1 and channel 2... not the other 16. Are most radios already programed with channel 1 and channel 2?

Is my SB5101 dying?

I had three intermittent blackouts yesterday that only lasted a few minutes each time. My connection started getting screwy after that: internet was slow then I got disconnected altogether. It eventually came back on, but happened again today and was down for 2 hours.

The modem kept restarting itself during all that time. Is there a way to check if my modem is the source of the problems? And I bought this new only about a month ago.

SB4100 acting strange

My internet connection has been intermittent the past few days. I decided to check the log, and I'm getting frequent "HFC: LOST TRC SYNC- trying to recover" msgs. Also, my cm apparently rebooted this afternoon around 5pm. I've posted an excerpt of the log below. I also posted my firmware version below. My svc provider is Knology. Is my firmware very outdated and could that be the problem? If Knology isn't updating my f/w, should I consider getting a new modem? Thanks.
