[FireFox] How can I avoid page-read limits?

There is an area newspaper that has an online site, but if you read more than 5 pages of news stories in a month, it requires you to subscribe. I think this is nuts when I can go to nearly any major newspaper in the US and read online with no limits.

They have ads, so its not like they're giving an ad-free experience.

Is there a way to stop the site from detecting how many page-reads you have done? Not sure if it is a cookie thing or what.

Thanks--

[FireFox] Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin Problem

Will show a "sign" saying it has quit working, and gives me an option of
continuing, or close the plugin. Either way, it freezes the system and then repeats the warning message.
I have removed this plugin till a fix is available.

EasyList merges with Fanboy's List

quote:The Easy team is very happy to announce today that both major ad blocking lists, EasyList and Fanboy's List, become one list! Also, EasyPrivacy and Fanboy's Tracking List were merged.

With this change all users will have a consistent Internet browsing experience and will no longer have to bother whether they have to choose EasyList or Fanboy's List or which one of them is better.

Fanboy, who has many years of experience in ad blocking, is a gain for the Easy project and will from now on be the main author. Welcome to the team!

Fanboy's Annoyance List was already included in the EasyList repository some weeks ago. Also, a new filter list solely for blocking social media integration, Fanboy's Social Blocking List, was created and is officially featured on the Adblock Plus features page. It was adapted from the Annoyance List which means you do not need it if you already have Fanboy's Annoyance List.

You do not need to do anything to get the new list(s), everything will be done automatically.

If you encounter any issues, please report them in our forum.

Firefox, Heal Thyself ...(more about Firefox Health Report)

Mozilla Blog - Future Releases
May 14, 2013 quote: This week’s release of Firefox includes the beginning of a pretty cool feature. The Firefox Health Report is a new system we’ve built to log basic health information about your browser (time to start up, total running time, number of crashes, &c), and then give you tools to understand that information and fix any problems you encounter. The initial report is pretty simple, but it will evolve and grow in the coming months. You’ll be able to use it as a window into many aspects of your browser’s performance and health, both in absolute terms, as well as in comparison to the global Firefox user base.

We’ve blogged before about how we’ve built the health report with privacy in mind and what our plans for it look like, but our long term hope for the feature goes well beyond the report you see today.

As the health report uncovers patterns of problems in Firefox, we can build better support information for our users. In many cases, we will be able to detect these problems before they get out of hand, and your browser can start healing itself. The health report is enabled by default in Firefox but, if you don’t want your browser health information added to the pool, you can disable data sending either from the report itself, or from the Firefox preferences window.

Firefox already protects and heals itself in numerous ways (automatically blocking insecure and unstable plugins, restoring tabs and content after crashes, detecting phishing and malware sites before they can attack) and the Firefox Health Report gives us a powerful new tool. If you’re curious about what’s going on under the hood, you can find the health report in your Help menu. If you’re not, rest assured that we’re fascinated by this stuff, and we’ll use it to make Firefox the smoothest, fastest, most excellent way for you to live your life on the web.

Johnathan Nightingale
Vice President of Firefox Engineering

FAQ for FHR - FHR sends a limited set of data that is relevant to improving the quality and capabilities of Firefox.

For example, FHR sends data to Mozilla on things like: operating system, PC/Mac, number of processors, Firefox version, the number and type of add-ons. The data collected by FHR is tied to a Document ID that corresponds to a browser installation (explained above in question #4) so that the data can be correlated across a limited window of time.

FHR does not collect email addresses or track website visits, which services users are logged into, downloads, or search details, nor does it collect other information which directly identifies you as a user.

[Dev Build] Mixed Content Blocking in Firefox Aurora

Mozilla Security Blog - May 16, 2013 quote:Firefox 23 moved from Nightly to Aurora this week, bundled with a new browser security feature. The Mixed Content Blocker is enabled by default in Firefox 23 and protects our users from man-in-the-middle attacks and eavesdroppers on HTTPS pages.

When an HTTPS page contains HTTP resources, the HTTP resources are called Mixed Content. With the latest Aurora, Firefox will block certain types of Mixed Content by default, providing a per-page option for users to “Disable Protection” and override the blocking...continue reading (more screenshots)

[FireFox] Can't download iTunes with FF21

I tried to download the latest iTunes through http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/, but it didn't work. I get to the point where it prompts me to verify the name and where to put it, but then nothing happens. The screen just changes to the 'thank you for downloading' page from Apple. I had no problems with IE10.

I did try another site and was able to download a file with no issues.

I'm wondering if it's a FF/Apple download issue, or just FF21, or something else? I have the Download Manager Tweak add-on, but tried it disabled, with no change.
