NETGEAR 7550 QUESTIONS

Just obtained a non-ATT branded Netgear 7550 gateway and was able to successfully connect to the internet with my ATT DSL line. Mostly trial and error since set up menus appeared different than the ATT version of this gateway.

A couple of questions--is there a way to flash the firmware to the ATT one (or is this irrelevant)? What is the USB port used for (the ATT version did not have this)? Is there a problem if one were to use the non-ATT branded gateway on the ATT network (the network accepted my ld and password)? Are the ethernet connections 10/100 or 10/1000?

Thank you in advance!

Correct Settings for WNR2000v4

This is the first time I have been on a router (laptop purchased) and it doesn't seem as if I am getting as much throughput on a wireless connection as I was directly connected to the modem. I have Comwavz which is a wireless line of site IP. I have gone to the Netgear settings page but not sure if everything is set to the maximum connection. It is set on Auto with up to 300 Mbps connection. Our Comwavz package is 1.0 Mbps. I used to get about 90% of the advertised speed but doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

13-05-2013 07:46 PM	flash speedtest	522 Kbps	82 Kbps	Comcast (Washington DC VA)	comwavz.com

This is typical of what the results used to be:

I was going to run a Tweak Test but Windows 8 is not an available OS to choose from

Change Netgear Ip Adress

I'm using a Netgear Prosafe VPN Firewall Fvs338. The DSL modem I'm using is a Westell 6100 from Verizon.
The problem is when I connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN port, the network is running fine but no internet connection. When I connect Ethernet cable through the local port, internet and network work fine but no router functions.
I have talked to Verizon tech support (for hours) and change settings (with tech guidance) on the DSL box and the router, but still doesn't work. One thing I noticed is the IP address for the DSL box and the router are the same 192.168.1.1 Not sure if that's the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Is this possible with the Netgear Prosafe VPN Client?

Route all internet traffic through the VPN tunnel? Form a windows client to a FVS318N router?

I searched on the netgear forums and get mixed (unclear) answers. On top of which the people who reply there never stop referring to "case studies" with images of software screens that do not match the current version of the VPN client.
