Installing an ATA: SPI DMZ & QOS Questions.

WGR614v8
I'm purchasing a Linksys ATA to use with VoIP.
If I put the ATA (via IP address) into the DMZ of the router will that bypass SPI?
If not, should I turn off SPI to get a better connection?
Will QOS work if I put the ATA in the DMZ? I'm thinking of giving the ATA the highest QOS via IP address.

Ugh! :p I don't think that I've ever written anything with so many acronyms in my life. :)

Netgear WPN824 sometimes stops responding

Hey guys my Netgear WPN824 is very fast and secure, when it actually works. For the majority of the time everything is fine. However, on rare occasions the router seems to lock wireless out of the internet. What I mean is, you will be browsing the net and suddenly you will lose internet access. Windows still says I am connected and everything and the I.P. still remains, just no internet. If I unplug and plug the router back in the router will reboot and everything will be fine until the next time it decides to crash, which can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 weeks from when I reset it. Please somebody help me find out whats wrong!

Netgear Powerline Info Needed

Looking for a solution to getting network out to the detached garage/office as my wireless doesn't want to reach that far. One concern I have is it is on a separate meter, but still on the same transformer. The powerline run is short on both meters. Will the powerline products operate in this configuration? If so, will I have to worry about which leg of the two 120v lines I'm connected to on each end? Speed is not an issue as I'm using 1mb DSL. Thanks, Dave

FVS338 ProSafe VPN Pass Through question

Has anyone gotten VPN Pass Through to work on this router?
I would like to connect to a Windows 2003 Server RRAS server behind the firewall using PPTP but I cant seem to connect to it.

If I remove the router then im able to connect to the server no problem. Im forwarding UDP500, TCP1701, TCP1723, UDP4500 to the Server. I ran the PPTPPing utility to test the connection and the TCP1723 port works fine but it fails on the GRE Protocol 47 connection.

Netgear tech support tells me that this router will allow GRE packets to pass through without any config changes but im not having any luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for reading

RT314 mods

I found a single reference from a German(?) fellow in the ZyXel forum to a patched firmware that increases the number of NAT sessions in a RT314 to 1200 from the stock 256. With the aide of Google's translator I was able to eventually find a non-dead link to this mythical beastee. I had previously "upgraded" my NetGear RT-314 to a ZyXel P-314 with this firmware:
http://micromause.googlepages.com/NetgearUpdatedFirmware.rar
The "upgrade" to 1200 NAT sessions is a patched version of the same firmware version here:
http://rothmann.dnsalias.com/teledat/Zyxel_FW_350m01_gepatcht_1200NAT.zip
I'm not sure if that firmware is loadable on a "real" ZyXel P314 nor am I sure that you can load it on a RT314 without first loading the version from the first link above. It's working fine for me. Good luck!

WG602 Wireless router wont reset to factory default

When I set up my security on my WG602, like a dummy, I didnt record my encryption key, I just copied and pasted into my network settings on my computer. I figured worst case scenario was that I would have to reset the router back to factory defaults if something happened to my system. So of course something happened, I had to rebuild my system and of course I dont have the key so I cant connect to my router now. So I decide to restore back to factory defaults, but it wont work. I have held the button in for the recomended 5 seconds... nothing. I held it in for longer, tried holding it in and unplugging/replugging the power cord. No matter what I do, the settings wont restore. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance!
