Row 44

Row 44 appears to use a satellite uplink (instead of ground based EVDO like Gogo), so the services are actually quite different. I would suspect that if the airlines really want to prevent VoIP they go with a Row 44 solution (latency makes it impossible), however from an end user perspective Gogo is a much more robust solution.

UMA, anyone?

I wonder if a T-mobile UMA phone would work on that connection? Yes Gogo blocks VOIP, but UMA is more like a VPN tunnel.

He's the guy who bought the latest "no-frills" fare.

Must've been a choice between overhead or the cargo hold.

No Trans-Atlantic??

Man... I'm supposed to be flying back and forth to Germany this spring. Would have really been useful for that.

Re: Not bad

All the planes they are outfitting it with are their P.S. 757s that have AC outlets at every seat (even coach). I just flew one of these flights for the first time a few days ago, and wifi would be a welcome addition.
