The Walkie-Talkie feature is currently not available with Unlimited by Boost®.

| | This new Boost plan rocks!
There is a lot of crap being posted on here. The truth is, Boost's new offering is $50 and that's it. It's available on the IDEN network. I've read many articles throughout the day and they key takeaway (for me) is there are no hidden fees! It includes unlimited talk, text, web and walkie talkie AND there are no hidden fees. Meaning no telecom taxes, convenience fees and activation fees!! Trust me, this is a steal. IDEN is a first class network. I'm switching as soon as it comes out on 1/22.

Especially considering all of the perks I have gotten: free incoming, pick 5 (unlimited calling to 5 numbers), 5PM nights and 500+ bonus minutes. Sprint rocks! -- A little off center & loving it! »www.euphoricarythmia.com/

| | Is "unlimited" really unlimited? I have been burned too many times by so-called unlimited plans that turned out not to be unlimited after all. I would like to see the fine print on this. | |
| | | | Almost perfect, just need a fam plan with it & phone deal.. The only thing that could top this off like a cherry on a sundae, that would make this a great deal is something like...
1. Pay $99 & up for the 1st phone, and get the 1st month of service free, (a $50 savings).
2. Family plan -- only $25/mo more allows up to 3 additional phones (that means $75/mo for 2 phones, 3 phones or 4 phones, again, with unlimited everything, but for each of those phones, there is no additonal discount, and each phone would, again, be $99 or more, each).
Painful in the pocket at first but were talking $75/mo for up to 4 phones here, this would be a very hard to beat deal.
all the extras are, to me at least, very expensive features that, in most cases, I could probably substitute with a free device such as a gps nav, dvd player or mp3 player. This would give me what I need for a very affordable price.

I was always PAYG, and I got angry with them when they started charging $1 a day for PTT when YOU never chirped anyone AND another customer (even wrong numbers) chirped you. It ate into my balance pretty quick. E-mail and text delivery on Iden was pretty unreliable too; some would be delivered HOURS after being sent, some just never got delivered.
This new plan MIGHT convince me to drop Time Warner VOIP and go fully wireless, since Nextel is rock solid @ my home. That, and Boost now offers a handset with Bluetooth for under $100. -- Don't pay ME back, pay it forward.

That's something I never thought of.. pre paid unlimited cell phones now able to displace overpriced VOIP services from cable companies... wow..
Though, I'm still waiting to see what the reaction of other companies with pre-paid services will be-- many of whom are now MORE EXPENSIVE for unlimited prepaid. Even if it lowers the price of prepaid minute plans, that would mean alot too.
Wake up, AT&T, Verizon, Tmobile, Virgin, Net10/Tracfone, and the rest.. Boom! $100 contract unlimited is now $50 prepaid... just like that (no extra taxes & fees).

| | | Boost in not an MVNO Definitely a competitive plan that others have commented well on. I just wanted to note that Boost is not an MVNO; it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint Nextel, which is a very different business model than an MVNO. I find it frustrating that this detail goes unnoticed .

I am a customer by choice, not necessity. Some people look at Boost as being a refuge for the under-privileged. I think that stereo-typical attitude is based on the "old" marketing strategies of the pre-Sprint era.
As a long-time Boost customer, please don't insult my intelligence by making statements regarding poor coverage area. I get better coverage with my Boost than I've ever had with any other carrier. Period! I firmly believe there are NO individual carriers that provide a network to satisfy everyone in every place. I can only tell you what I've experienced, and that is nothing but good things with the service and coverage I've had with Boost.
With the unlimited plan, the only thing I'm gaining is unlimited daytime minutes and unlimited texting/messaging, as I already have unlimited night/wknds, beginning at 7pm, as well as unlimited PTT and wireless web for $49.99/mo. under the old premium plan.
If you haven't experienced Boost, you can't comment on it's service. If you have, but not recently, obviously there have been changes for the better since you've been gone.
Thanks for reading, Mike
| | | | Re: A Lot Of Opinions... It is not that Boost is so very low it is that the other companies are so very high. Check out rates in any other country in the world. Cost per minute is more than double what it is in the UK, more than 5x what it is in Japan and more than 10X what it costs in India, and that is for a long distance call to the USA. Locked phones that only work with one carrier and 24 month contracts generate high revenues for phone companies. Compare to UK for instance - not to hard as they speak a form of English - and it is easy to buy SIM's only from any provider for use in any phone and the rates are competitive as you can buy minutes of talk time from anyone for use anywhere. What if you had to buy Ford gas from a Ford dealer for your Ford car. Think the dealer might charge a little bit more than your present local gas dealers? | |
