| Of course we won't download more! Just like we've all proven that faster processors lead to more efficient code, and larger hard drives lead to smaller file sizes, and... oh crap.
Usage of resources expands, like a gas, to all available space. That is a broad(band? sorry) generalization.
I think an earlier example given will prove to be correct: You have 4 hours to kill. You spend an two hours downloading a demo, one hour screwing with it before you realize you hate it, and an hour poking around in a low-bandwidth fashion 'cause there's not time to download another one.
Now, you have the same 4 hours to kill. You download the demo in, oh, 28 minutes. It takes the same hour to decide you hate it.
You think no one's gonna eye up that demo site for the next thing they thought was interesting? You think most people will really stop at that point and say to themeselves, "self, while it was pretty awesome to see how fast that file came down compared to previous experiences, i'd better not increase my usage and start downloading more demos, or that movie i saw over there, or this entire season of Battlestar Galactica..."
Usage expands to match resources. When hasn't it?

1 edit | starting to agree "apparently because they don't think an additional 4Mbps downstream is worth $10." -- Now that upstream is equal, I do believe it is time to downgrade. The only reason I upgraded back then was because upstream was pathetic. Shame on comcast for not making upstream higher now for 52.95!

And why is South Florida at the bottom of both lists? Are they hoping Global Warming floods us out so they don't have deploy here?

| Nice but they are ignoring a segment of their customer base They need to stop this rubbish and upgrade their existing analog cable systems to digital.
Docsis 3.0 is all well and good, but they continue to ignore those consumers whose bad fortune it is to be stuck on one of their primitive analog systems which can only get 45 channels of low quality programming.

| Finally!!! YEA! BAY AREA! BRING IT B!TCH!
Finally, i've been wanting 2 Mbps upload speed for a little while... now if only at&t wireless got past the 800 Kbps limit for iPhones (maybe boosting the speed to 3 Mbps download and 768 Kbps for upload speed?), I'd be set!
I'm in a 3G coverage area, but with all the problems that at&t is having, i'd rather use Wi-Fi.
