I signed up in January 2008, installation was Feb 2008. I signed for a 2year deal, locked prices for one year. In essence, I missed last year's price hike by 2 weeks. I'll likely be getting two price hikes this time! Woot! -- »www.theexitwound.com |

DirecTV is unbeatable with its HD sports offerings so I doubt they are losing customers anytime soon.
When cable or U-verse offer NBA League Pass with more than 1(If that) game in HD a night then I might consider switching |

When cable or U-verse offer NBA League Pass with more than 1(If that) game in HD a night then I might consider switching I doubt they are going to lose customers over this as well.. however, it is important to remember that we are in totally different times where people are starting to react differently than before. Like the stock market, people now, too, are starting to make quick reactions to what they see in the news.. people are hanging onto ever word of what they hear about the economy and the new government. What I do think we may see more of, in the coming months, are people dropping pay TV all together.. or, we may see more people ramping up TV as a new form of "entertainment" vs. eating out, trips, etc. |

| Um, we have a bad economy. Bad timing for an increase :(
Wow, this is quite the wrong time to do a price hike dont ya think DTV? XM Satellite Radio is doing a price hike too (for add-on radios). Guess what? They are going bye-bye. We have to speak with our wallets and stop letting these companies walk all over us. Other posters have a great point. With Hulu, Netflix and OTA, there is no reason to need Sat or cable anymore. |

Some might be outraged to know the cost of DVR service seems to be increasing one penny, from $5.99 to $6.00 per month. Boo hoo. The last time I checked the price, Cocks was screwing subscribers for $12.99/mo. for DVR. |

I suggest you never move to Comcast territory. Possibly the worse UI I have ever seen and their prices are even worse. |

| reply to Eat Me the direcTV branded DVRs are really not that bad. i used to think the same way until i wanted an HD DVR and went with their branded boxes. after using them for a few weeks, i was surprised at how well they worked. things were a little quirky coming from tivo, but it was just a matter of getting used to where they placed things and how to do the same things with different menus. i really like the direcTV DVRs now. |

Who supplies the internet connection to homes? The same people trying to sell you TV service.
Comcast charges an extra 15 dollars a month for Internet service if you don't have TV service. Plus you have ATT looking to moved to tiered based service.
These companies are going to get your money one way or another. |

And yet my cable TV service with my cable company hasnt had a rate increase in years. Many people that have Buckeye don't even know of when the last rate hike was. You can't blame price hikes on programming when some cable tv providers arent raising their rates. it's more of greed. |

So in a bad economy companies are supposed to eat the rise in programming costs? In the end it is cheaper then cables 5-7% annual. When you look at Choice Xtra with HD($72.99) it is 4.1%. Hell gas in my town went up 4.2% over night. Most companies see increase of 12% and only filter down 4-5% in these times to eliminate loss of customers.
I have Directv and this is better then what I saw with Dish Network or Charter. |
