| Re: All going down South. That is exactly it. The past five years have seen at&t hiring mostly contractors.
Even those term employees under a shitty contract are little more than temp contractors. Their pay is 30% lower, they don't get OT after eight hours, they don't get OT on Sundays, and list goes on.
Yes, it's a good job if you can't find better but there is zero security in it. After one year they can let you walk with no reason, nothing. Just call you into the office and ask for your badge and key, cya. | |

| What this really means... He failed to say that there are several lawsuits against at&t filed by CWA. Part of which is due to them breaking the current contract more times than I can count. It had requirements that at&t bring those out-sourced jobs back to the US four years ago.
Now they spend millions on commercials that claim they are bringing those jobs back because it's the responsible thing to do in these times of trouble. The spirit of at&t and all that bullshit. Give me a break!
Even with the economy taking a slow downward spiral over the last few years at&t continues to increase profit. Yet they refuse to raise the pay at their Mobility call centers. They keep the employees coming and going through a revolving door of hiring and firing. Not to mention most of the employees hired over the past five years have been contractors or temps working under a separate contract that screws them seven ways to Sunday.
You couldn't pay me enough to work at one of their Mobility call centers.
As far as I am concerned the Evil Empire has zero credibility... Zero. | |

Imagine the corporations, planning this "collapse" in order, to reorder all LABOR CONTRACTS and Pensions. Imagine millions of new WILLING and Desperate American workers, willing to work for 1/2 of what we are used to. Never mind we are committed to 30 yr mortgages,kids and college. That the prosperity of the middle-class is the growth engine of the economy, not the wealthy. The new MIDDLE-CLASS is poorer and working more to survive. From the "One income" in the60s and 70s, to the 2 wage earner "read wife" tier in the 80s and 90s; to the 2 low pay benifit-less and pension-free.AND plus part time job just to eat...This plan, that these CEO"s cooked up, not unlike their books, explains the vilification of poor,blaming them for the SubPRIME, the union workers for the BIG 3 auto failure...only distractions to remove the blame from the real thieves and liars. Corporate America is not our benevolent care taker nor our are American interests in their agenda. They tout these great fair wage right to work jobs in the south. The right to work, is no right at all, it gives the company the right to fire without just cause and fair representation. The new order is evolving in at&t since the doubleSPEAK of RANDY WORM-TONGUE about the Stupid American and the Desperate Indians Lie. How our craft and service reps are lazy and overpaid, and complain about everything. Next show leadership and forgo your raises and you bonus make the workers look greedy and callious for striking in a BAD ECONOMY...Don't worry if our books show profit in the " Worst Economy Since THE DEPRESSION". The "Middleclass WARS" is the line in the sand of the Lifestyle of the rich and famous and a 3rd World working class desperate and in fear every day....I am a craft worker in the NEW at&t and saw changes and see our state supporting work in construction going to out of state contract work forces. The CONTRACTOR Disease is spreading in todays economy. The GYPSY work is without benifits or liability to the NEW at&t and since they have no real contract are expendable as dirty diapers. So believe CORPORATE ANTI-AMERICA and let's all bend overin unison and take it; or fight for the end of LIFE in america as we knew it. The new order is not my AMERICAN DREAM!!!! | |
