1 edit | Thats crap
Sorry if I do not like a phone and have to keep it!! That sucks, and I am a already over priced VZW customer. I had a brand new LG Voyager last year that Broke only after 2 months, I have the replacement plan in the store, and I was told, sorry we do not have any in stock to insta replace, but we can give you a brand new one, and guess what....they extended my contract by 2 MONTHS by failure of their own program!!!

I was a Verizon customer for 2 years and while I was very satisfied with their service, their customer service left a bit to be desired, especially retentions. I abhor people who want something for free, but when you have a $300/month bill with a company for 2 years and you say you're leaving to reduce your monthly expenses, they should offer you SOME kind of carrot. Verizon basically told me, "So long and thanks for all the fish!"
Just when I thought Verizon's customer service couldn't get worse, they reverse pro-consumer policies to squeeze people even more. |

| I agree Verizon and all these phone companies are Vultures with these ETFs. Its a complete disgrace and the reduction in the discount to upgrade to a new phone is also a low blow to consumers.
While I am happy with the actual Service with Verizon I am upset with how they lock down phones and cripple them. I have a great phone and if only they would unlock the GPS on it I would be super happy.
Goes to show all the companies IMHO are just as evil. -- "Beer is Proof That G-D Loves Us and Wants Us to Be Happy" - Ben Franklin |

Its amazing to me how the anti-consumer policies seem to always pop up just after a buyout/merger. |

1 edit | I think the poster may be reading the information wrong
It says there will be an "ETF credit" if the service is terminated within 30 days. I think they means the billing system will charge the ETF and credit it off. At least I think that's the case. It's standard procedure in the cell industry.
edit:I think what's really changing is that before, new customers could try the service for the first month w/o being charged the monthly fee or usage fees if they canceled before the 30 days was up. That was generous by industry standards. |

What is more amazing is how the Lemmings continue to do business with these companies. The would rather bitch, moan, and complain than voting with their dollars. Verizon will continue to do this crap as long as people flock to them by the millions. |

Seriously, I've been on the New-every-2 plan since its inception and it has worked out ok. But what I dislike is that I DIDN'T know I could turn the phone in within 30days of not liking it. I have the LG EnV2 and the outside keylock feature BLOWS! Had I know it would be "an autodialer from my pocket", I would have returned it for something more secure.
Verizon is not a consumer-friendly company. It is a nefarious communications company that has some good features (FiOS, FiOS HDTV...) but horrible billing, 9 hr customer service, did I mention horrible billing?

If you don't want a contract on a cell phone and have to worry about an ETF, then pay full price for the phone. Problem solved. Next. -- Blagojevich / Madoff 2012! |

I think this is a really bad move in the long term for them as a lot of people had the incentive to get smartphones and data plans because of the NE2 discount.
Maybe when my plan is up Sprint will get my business if they don't decide to pull the same crap. |

| Great, Verizon changes rules just before my contract expires
It is great when a customer cannot plan on a wireless companies policies being predictable when their contract comes up for renewal. I also wonder if Verizon will include their crap charges and fees in the $80.00 minimum plan cost for the higher new every two credit. |

I'm trying to find California law on the issue. I think California law requires some sort of 30 day return window, but I can't find a site with specific references to it. Are California consumers still safe? |

So if I'm understanding it right, the "New every 2" program subsidized a new phone for an existing customer, by $100. But a new customer would get the same phone for less out of pocket.
Why do they charge the people who've been with them 2 years or more......more? Well, look at it this way. If you decide to leave, you can tell them this is the main reason.
Not to hype AT&T or T-Mobile, but at least with a GSM carrier, you can get whatever device you like, provided it supports the correct bands and is either unlocked or locked to the carrier you select. Get the phone you want, pop in your SIM, and go. |

And if you don't, then you can always buy one of their femtocells, hook it up to YOUR Internet connection, and get ZERO discount on the minutes you use on it. Oh yeah, and you only get 1x data. No EVDO for you! |
