Pro-sumer?

Hmm, a former MPAA lobbyist considered pro-consumer?? Have I stepped into Jerry Seinfeld's 'bizzaro' world? Up is down, black is white and a MPAA lobbyist is on a consumers side!??

The question is, will he push ...

... an even more unbalanced copyright situation, or will he side with Consumers on issues such as Capping, overages and "traffic management."

I'd say it's a coin toss. Jury is out on this one. I'd like to think #2.... but I feel #1 is more likely.

Think positive dude, maybe he will go down the middle and make like 1tb caps and do something that will cut down on piracy and make more people happy. With a 1tb cap most people would have more than enough, maybe he will kill the throttle(plz!) and maybe he will help with new laws that cut priacy like HUGE fines, roughly 10x the cost of the songs some one downloads against the law. you would get 3 warnings though.

and Net Neutrality means higher HSI prices and caps in the end. Be careful what you wish for. Your providers will make it come true.

Only the convoluted definition does. Treating all traffic fairly and equally or applying non-discriminatory shaping (ala Comcast) is a perfectly valid way to manage a network.

Re: The question is, will he push ...

and how do you claim he can make caps go away?

Id like to see him try. Comcast, AT$T, TWC, and every other company that has a cap of some sort (even VZ for the wireless side) will sue the feds and him right out of DC.

You CAN NOT make a company give you unlimited what ever just because you want it .

But then again if you don't want throttled be prepared for higher bills, and capped usage (because he won't be able to get rid of one or the other- most likely he won't be able to get rid of either). the Court will decide on that one.

Yeah one of those double 'headed' coins. Sorry for the pessimism, just a Cubs fan getting ready for the new season.

Well his campaign donors are expecting to get their $$$ worth (Obama had heavy backing from Hollywood types). Can we please start appointing people with competent technical backgrounds and not former lobbyists to these positions?

Re: What the....

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. Joe Biden was a known media industry mouthpiece from a while back, so he may be helping Obama make his (un-)informed decisions for staff picks. Pretty much all we can do is pray that the net is not taken to new draconian heights, or send letters to your state representatives and senators now to gain support for what you truly believe should be the way things should be done.
