Sound like America to me

America is run by British, owned by queen of England
Why doesn't that surprise American?
The plutocrat aka aristocracy run the world economy today and has been for a millennium
The people don't have any choice between inferior dsl,Cable or Fiber. Its either dialup or dsl, cable. The American empire is ruled by British royalty. The American president are all related by bloodline. No peasant aka American can run for office
The End

Trace the family tree of the current president, I remember hearing he was Cheney's cousin or something.

England isn't well known for its broadband. Sweden is more of a role model

Sweden isn't as good as France

If anyones model were to be admired I'd say right now it'd be the French one, all the ducts owned by france telecom have to be opened up to competition, resulting in Paris havign a choice of 4 fibre operators. the prices of the service speaks for itself.... »www.iliad.fr/en/presse/2007/CP_3···_eng.pdf The final piece of fibre to the customer can be attached to any operators cable. Although the installed FTTH base is low now it's expected to skyrocke. The last I read, 11 million homes were passed. If the French can do it, anyone can.

And the best part about the government owning the fiber is that they can easily snoop all the data, and depending on the outcome of a few elections, they can determine what data is allowed to be transmitted. Great idea, huh?

In Sweden's case no more so than the broadband being built out on the government tab in the USA will be. Some of the infrastructure built with government support and/or tax breaks. France is all commercial.

EDIT: As I remember your government was quite easily able to snoop what was traversing AT+T's network despite not 'owning the fiber'...
