Since Docsis 3.0 is supposed to alleviate congestion problems there is no need for caps right since that was the whole reason for the caps ( supposedly )? |

| reply to BF69 Wrong! There still will be caps, but comcast doesn't feel the need to mention in every press release, and apparently Karl forgot or is tired of see CAPS! in every other post (every post for some people ) Get over it, CAPS! are part of the ToS for the forseeable future. |

8/768k was upgraded a while ago to 16/2...
"New Speed Options to Begin in Silicon Valley, Tri-Valley and Monterey, and Roll Out in San Francisco, Oakland and Remainder of Bay Later This Year"
Didn't we know this already? *I* did...
Also: "Comcast Drops DOCSIS 3.0 On Parts of the Bay Area"
Bay Area is pretty good size. Just as with Blast last year, *PARTS OF* The Bay Area got it, others did not.

 OMG! Killing teh Cap! |
said by ptrowski :Again, higher speeds does not always equate to people downloading more.... EXACTLY!! From 3mbps to 16mbps - my usage has not increased. Even if I decide to get D3 - when ever it does get lit up here - I seriously doubt I will use that much more.. if any at all. Maybe on the upload side, doing backups.
Faster is faster. Faster doesn't mean more, it means less time for current tasks(if the source can push it).

In seattle area (and I think most other markets), it didn't happen everywhere at once, it was (sort of) one cmts/rack space (CO?) at a time. The good news for you is it generally followed the pattern that the 12/2-16/2 upgrades used, so since you were an early adoptee for that you'll likely see/have available D3 sooner than many. Next comes the question of "do you need it" you seem to be cruising along fine without it. |

I don't *need* Blast, but I want the upload speed. According to the linked article, nothing in this particular part of The Bay Area is listed as soon-to-be.

Yeah, well, I'm a little north of West Palm Beach, still don't know if I'm south fl or central, pretty sure south/central.....
Since we don't have any fios or uverse competition, or ANY competition except for att dsl, I'm pretty sure we won't see anything this year.
And my lady already had the triple play when I moved here, so that's what we'll probably have for the foreseeable future, unless I can convince her we don't need the tv or phone service, then we can bounce to the dsl for cheaper than the hsi only from the comcrapper.... -- Follow Your Bliss -- Joseph Cambell I reject your Reality and substitute my own! -- Adam Savage, Mythbuster |

when I go to the comcast.com site and put in my address for St. Lucie county FL (34953; two counties north of palm beach), the Performance (12 down) and Performance Plus (16 down) are being offered. However, no where does it mention the upload speeds.
Also, Uverse is still not available in my area. |
