Doubt it.... I have no DSL or cable access out here, wireless works fine, but ya know DSL is faster and less costly I don't NEED but would like it. And what video costumers? Do they mean like Embarq's bundle with dish? |

| I don't know the specifics, I live outside of Columbia MO which is one of the trial areas for CenturyTel's IPTV, but I live in Embarq territory, so I do not yet have it.

Me either. As one of those 7.7 million access lines and 2 million broadband customers I just want them to run efficiently, stay in business and keep up the good work. They haven't been perfect since they were spun off from Sprint but compared to my experience with Comcast in southwest Florida they have been excellent |

I don't have ether, yet, I just hope embarq or W/E they call it DSL will be here if less then 2yrs, unless they do some sort of uber wireless instead that would b ok 2. |

Well, I will tell you as a former CenturyTel DSL customer that CenturyTel is *awful* - clueless tech support, poor service, unreliable connection (despite a great tech who really tried his best to fix things). |

Pretty sure CTel is delivering IPTV over their fiber system, which allows for 15/768 speeds last I checked. Not FiOS but decent...except for the upload. |

Guess it depends where you live, as my experiences with CTL have been nothing short of awesome. In fact, there are a few CTL techs that hang out in the CTL forums helping out customers with problems.
My 10000/768 connection has been rock solid for the few years that I've had it.

When I mean fiber, I mean fiber to the home, not a crappy hack like AT&T's U-Verse VDSL which leaves fridge sized boxes in your yard that will explode in the middle of the night.
If they're planning full FTTH, even if it's IPTV, great. I'm on board. Otherwise I'm sticking with the cable company where I can get 30/2 and about 50 HD channels. |

OTOH CTel may not upgrade your telephone lines to fiber right off the bat. As usual, the fiber developments are in greenfield communities, where the marginal cost of deploying fiber over copper is much lower.
I'd check over in the CTel forum for more details on their services. Lower-end stuff is regular ADSL, 10/768 is ADSL2+, 15/768 is fiber. Speeds are conservative given the medium they're pushing the bits over, but hey, if it work it works. |

Yup, it is like a combination of the best things of the FiOS and ATTs Uverse. They get fiber out to where ever they can and then still use the copper when necessary. For my house, they actually upgraded to fiber direct to the home. But it was easy for them to do. Over head wires from the pole are easy to take down. 
But I have no Idea what made them decide to do that. Other people in my town didn't get upgrades when there were overhead wires. |

I'm with you on this!!
As long as my quality or service and /or the price doesn't drastically increase I have no real big gripes with the deal.
I do hope they treat the local guys right here because as a whole they are a great bunch of guys and most of them go out of their way to see things get taken care of! One in particular here that sure deserves that praise! I'd sure hate to compromise on that! |
