Comments on news posted 2009-03-19 08:56:34: While users by and large love Verizon FiOS, they don't always love Verizon FiOS billing -- with users routinely being over-billed or billed for services never ordered, and correcting these errors often quite difficult. ..

Great

As good as FiOS is these billing issues are terrible.
I gave up trying to get my bill fixed.

Who needs a free TV?

I don't care about the free TV! All I want is the fast internet, no caps and the 100 HD channels.

Re: Great

well see this is the problem with big companys like this
screw and f over the people do it till your sued and still profit

once sued you know the suit will be less then the amount that you f'ed ever on over for write off the suit as a cost of doing bussiness
gain gain gain bonus all around for the CEO's

so you f over every one for 150 million and then get sued for 100 or even just 50 million
you gain 50 million in cash and just write the rest off LOL

i should do that

Bribe Check Not Big Enough

Did Verizon not cut the state of New Jersey a big enough protection check to keep it out of its hair?

hmmm

o yea and btw companys like this will continue todo bussiness like this untill it is no longer a viable
bussiness pratice.

meaning its no longer profitable
as long as there is still profit to be made

like the first guy that made a post said he has long sense given up on gettin his bill fixed

when the fines and law suits are more cost then it is the profit

this will continue to happen

I can tell you Cox Cable ain't any better at billing than FIOS. Cox reps also lie like the Devil to sell anything. AT&T lies too. THEY DO IT ON PURPOSE! THEY DON'T CARE! THE FINE IS NOTHING, THEY BUDGET FOR THEM.

yeah it's way past givng them the benefit of the doubt

Verizon's Fios is such a great service (when it works) but it's a shame they feel the need to steal from their customers with all these "innocent" repeating billing errors.

Oh no!

How can they challenge the Messiah of Internet and TV service?

FIOS is just so great they should just put up with all this!

Surewest FTTH also

It must be a Fiber thing, cuz' every bill I get I have to call and get them to fix it. I mean every bill. This is going on 12 months now. I am going to drop the tv portion of my triple play due to the cost. I am going to Directv in May when my contract is up.

Money grab?

The state of NJ is broke. I wonder how much of this law suit has to do with actual problems with Verizon and how much has to do with trying to do a money grab. Note that NJ is also suing the ex-heads of Lehman Brothers..

Re: Money grab?

They should also sue the last contingents of Governors, Executives and anyone else that had less than a 4yr term, and is entitled to "full pension and benefits" without vesting:
Whitman
McGreevy
Florio
Prunetti
...

Verizon Billing should be 24/7, just like their service. Not 8am to 5pm. Crap-on-a-stick, or atleast 8am to 8pm MF and Have Billing open on weekends. Afterall, a majority of their customers HAVE TO WORK 9-5 and those hours DO NOT accommodate 90% of their business.

It is not limited to FIOS

They messed up my DSL,Phone,Wireless bundle rate a while back and it took me months to get it fixed. The kicker is I had not changed anything, the package got changed and they couldn't tell me why. My guess is that they were hoping I wasn't going to notice.

Re: Is is not limited to FIOS

incredible this is *exactly* what happened to me. I was told the $30 'setup' fee would be waived. when I saw it billed I called and was told 'they never waive that fee'. the rep told me they would remove it but 'she was sure the supervisor would deny it' and sure it enough it went right back on my bill. this is seriously fraudulent.

In NJ they signed a statewide franchise so I think TV can go anywhere.

Same here too!

My 2 year 10/2 meg $35 a month FIOS was supposed to go to $42. Every time they called I hung up and it stayed at $35 for an extra year. My router died and when I called they said I could get the 20 meg package for no extra charge but it would go up to $42.
When I got the first bill it was $55 a month. I had them put it back to the 10/2 meg package which took them an hour.

It took three months of calls to get the stinking $7 credited.

I think these reps only stay at VZ for a few months and they lie to customers and write up upgrades to keep their jobs. They meet quotas and get the commission checks that way. By the time the customer complains they are long gone and since a lot of customers don't notice VZ does not seem to care.

Ditto

I was a happy Comcast customer, but thought I would try Verizon FIOS because of the glowing reports on their technology. I also had a couple of TiVo S3's in need of cable cards and was not looking forward to the Chinese water torture perpetrated by incompetent Comcast technicians. I ordered a 4-way Verizon FIOS bundle (phone, TV, Internet and mobile) and was promised multiple incentives.

The order was screwed up from the start and it took Verizon a month to get the installation scheduled. Installation was smooth and everything worked as expected. However, it took me 8 months and 16 telephone calls to get the incentives I was promised ($240) and have several features/services I did not order ($60) removed from my bill. As it stands right now, they still owe me about $89.50 for erroneous charges, but it is not worth enduring the gauntlet of the IVR menu tree and waiting on hold for an uncooperative agent to answer.

they know they can get away with it..

Verizon banks on the customer who doesn't take the time to look over their bill, let alone to call and keep calling to get it eventually fixed (if it ever does).

Hopefully this will bring enough embarrassment to Verizon they will shape up and stop this BS.
