I was called

I received calls from a Dish distributor. They were very rude when I pointed out I was on the DNC list. I went to Dish Network's web site's "contact us" to complain. I'll give them credit for responding to me. But, their attitude was that they have no control over their resellers.

I also filed a complaint with the FTC.

BULLSH*T!!!

Dish is in complete violation of the do not call list as I continue to get calls from them even after I told them to take me off there own lists. At least they are willing to let a judge decide this out though.

Stupid Resellers

I too receive calls from their horrible resellers but I push the buttons to emulate a fax modem tone lol. It cut down on the calls, well except the "automated" ones that say I have placed an order and "My dish will be delivered today"... isn't that partially considered bait and switch. I call to say I don't have an order and they say "Well in that case we can offer JUNK"

Sorry those of you that have dish if I have offended you, I love my DirecTV.

its about time

I use to get a call from them everyday at the exact same time on my work phone. Some stupid recording trying to get me to sign up. It drove me crazy.

Re: BULLSH*T!!!

Dish itself may not be in violation, but the resellers are. Seems more like finger pointing to me on this one. Mind you, I am no defender of companies. The 8 mystery calls per 12 hour period I receive daily are enough for me to laugh at the DNC list.

I guess I don't cause I have DirecTV, what's dumb is we pay for my parents DirecTV and no matter how many times they have told them that, the continue to call.

It can go both ways I see your point

I have never gotten one.

But I already have dish. Is it the resellers, or dish them self?

Resellers?

Since when does Dish have a reseller besides the phone companies.

The companies that are selling Dish that are calling are only AGENTS of Dish Network. THEY DO NOT RESELL DISH!

DirecTV paid $11 million about two years ago for a similar offense. I'm not certain that either company intentionally violates DNC, they just may be incompetent in keeping their database current, and the government may be looking to make an example of them.

Personally, I miss the outbound teleslime calls from Bombay for Dish. I used to get them daily, and every rep had a really hard time explaining to me that they were not trying to sell me a new China set, which apparently didn't include a Ginsu knife, both of which "the Mrs." needed to approve.

 Local paper plug

Yes I know that even though they finally added an easy to find search feature to their site that the search option is still lacking. But lets give the local paper some press anyway. Since the news story actually takes place in Springfield, IL.

Re: BULLSH*T!!!

Actually, the are responsible. They are subcontracting/sell for DISH or however you want to call it. It makes Dish ultimately responsible.

A long, long time ago...

I remember when I was in the military. Dish (probably a reseller) would call all of our work lines. I answered one time in front of my co-workers and started grilling them. The guy tried to argue that they had the right to call us. I told him, "I think my commanding officer would beg to differ with you." I then transferred him to my commander, and the calls stopped.

Name some? Resellers and Agents are two different things.

Dish calling and calling

Dish (as well as DirecTV, Comcast and others) outsource a lot of their sales to contract companies who do nothing but use customer lists to call thousands of people a day. They sometimes have hundreds upon hundreds of operators in tiny cubicles all lined up in rows whose sole job is to get people to subscribe to any service they are contracting for. These companies are above reproach when it comes to courtesy and obeying the DO NOT CALL LIST. Hell they don't care. They only care about billing for sucessful sign ups. And even then they usually don't get paid until an installation is succesful.

The fact that Dish is the center of this doens't surprise me one bit because they are slowly dying and they know it.

In a few months it will be too late for Dish and I will be the first to dance on their grave when die the painful death they deserve. I may even send Charlie flowers.

And no I am not a former disgruntled employee. I did install for them as a contractor and I have to say that I have never worked for or with any other company that was as disorganized and out of control as they are.

I hate their business model, I hate their equipment, I hate their customer service, I hate their installation department and I hate their sales people. Gee what else is there.
