Given that Clear is meant to be a wireline replacement, this is actually really cool. You could put this device in your house, or take it on the road with you (as well as all your gadgets!). The other benefit would be that you never need to deal with public hotspots again, nor pay for wifi at hotels and open yourself up to the security risks associated with doing so. Now if only we can get some 4G love in NYC!

That "pretty low" limit goes right along with the "pretty low" price attached to it. They do offer other plans.

even though its pretty fast and mobile, $50 is a lot of money to pay for unlimited mobile...i hope they will use wimax pricing from xohm.com where you pay $50 for both home and on the go...
hopefully white space broadband will crush both lte and wimax since they're planning to offer their wireless service for close to $10 per month for speeds comparable to lte
i guess it's all a waiting game now |

Ahh yes, another anon poster who didnt bother to read the article! This offering is for unlimited home and wireless roaming usage. The device they are selling allows you to take your home connection with you anywhere in the footprint. Can your cable connection do that??

| yes but i share home internet so that does not work out for everyone because when i take the device with me, it means the rest of the folks won't be able to access the internet...
now if they would allow 2 devices for $50, that would be a bargain yes |

$50 for unlimited, with mobility available, is a bargain. 'nuff said. What cable provider are you on anyway? Around here 8/2 is $65 per month. |

Golden, CO | Better than having to track down the nearest hotspot. The concept's good and they're expanding. Plus you've got the hybrid EvDO/WiMAX modems, which will give you at least 3G coverage practically anywhere. |
