Comments on news posted 2009-04-01 14:05:20: Calling the economics "terrific," AT&T is already offering subsidized netbooks by both Aspire and Dell, with the goal of locking customers into long-term 3G data contracts. ..

Would be good... except for the 200MB cap.

200MB cap is useless for a laptop.
Lets assume that I telecommute, or work on the road.
A 3G/DSL bundle WOULD be good.
A 200MB cap is rediculous.
This isn't WAP data we're talking about.

I agree about the 200MB cap on the 3G side. That is pretty low. Looks like AT&T is banking on the old voice sales model: "We'll get 'em on overages!"

Can't wait to see the Roaming Bill, but....

Besides a great market for soon to be "unlocked" netbooks, the really cool tech will be GPS enhanced Netbook recovery, in case your machine is lost or stolen.

That would be a feature that they could sell.

And what about some real usage cap tiers?

500 MB, 2.5 GB, 5GB, 15 GB.

Yeah, 200 MB is ridiculous. A few-minute YouTube video is 10 MB. I can hit 200 MB surfing on my smartphone in a month.

I agree, 200MB is too low for a computer (as opposed to a cell phone). I think the idea of the bundle is a great idea, however it should come with the standard 5GB of data.

Get real. Were you really expecting 5gigs on the $60 bundle? Stockholders were pissed enough with the $10 DSL 'giveaway' when they acquired BS. They sure as heck weren't going to put up with ATT cannibalizing the existing 5gig plan.

Even 5 GB is a joke. That's what maybe 3 movies downloaded from Amazon or about 15 minutes of Hulu a day.

True True I would turn off my auto updates when on wireless to avoid the auto downloads.

would be good... if the 3G actually worked reliably in large metropolitan areas!
