Comments on news posted 2009-04-07 15:15:24: As you might expect, being the first carrier to launch a phone with the Android OS got T-Mobile lots of attention, though it also drew attention to the fact the carrier's 3G HSDPA network has one of the smallest footprints among major carriers. ..

Maybe they'll bring it to Ann Arbor MI soon. It's frustrating being in a decently populous area just outside of 3G coverage.

Flurry in Ohio

I hardly call 2 cities in Ohio a flurry. Hell they even left out Cinci. You need the 3 C's at least.

no St. Louis

It's difficult for me to believe this list. St. Louis isn't even on it!

It might be the 1000s of existing grandfathered federal govt users of the AWS band that will take years, if ever, to relocate. Here is the list of them. »www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/reports···1209.htm

I was wondering why Eugene and Salem are listed but not Portland metro. Good find patcat88.

What's the point?

They're using a funky frequency (1.7GHz) that almost nobody supports. I dropped plans to get an unlocked Blackberry Bold because (you guessed it), T-Mobile didn't have their 3G on the 1.9GHz band.

Voice coverage?

I figured South Louisiana areas wouldn't be on the list. They need to work on their voice coverage first. I've never seen a single person in my area(Baton Rouge/New Orleans) with a TMobile phone.

Of course, you could always go get 3G with someone else in all the funky towns and with your stupid blackberry for $30/month and use that with your laptop for an additional $30/month..

WOOHOO! Such a great idea!

Re: Ann Arbor

Looks like nothing for the suburbs outside of Los Angeles (Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, Antelope Valley, Ventura).
I hear you - I'm in zipcode 91355 - ~5 miles outside of coverage area.

Nah... I just use my current plan of $30 a month which includes 500 min, unlimited text, and unlimited 3g data and tether with it.

Re: no St. Louis

The Portland metro area already has 3G. Salem & Eugene are the next 2 biggest cities so it makes sense to do them next.

3g

Hell yes 3G for Lubbock!! Hopefully its true! :P

It would make sense since many students live here, and because at&t has 3g and alltel has evdo.

just in time for 3G

Let's see... TMO is racing to the 3G market right when everyone is trying to get to 4G or LTE? Why not just skip 3G and start working on the next technology to try and get ahead (rather then play catch-up).

Good luck TMO... i tried them for a year in 2005... never again!

Nothing in NorCal either, currently they have it San Francisco and Sacramento, and nothing north of those places.

Too bad you don't keep up with current information and instead you make unfounded and inaccurate proclamations that only show how ill-informed you are. I'm sure TMO is heartbroken that you left. I've used TMO for about 4 years now and I'm very happy with their service. I can't say the same for friends using Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T here though. They're usually happy to borrow my working phone.

The list isn't complete. It's accurate, but not complete.

So what. ATT doesn't have theirs on the 2.1ghz band. Both frequencies are pretty much limited to the US.

1st of all, 4g = LTE and WiMax
2nd - they will be working on 4g. They've already stated their plans. It just happens that if they DID skip 4G, *some* websites would still harp on them having skipped 3G.

Yes, T-Mobile is actually going to skip 3G mostly and move ahead to 4G (LTE).

T-Mobile plans to have 4G testing next year where-as AT&T won't have LTE testing until 2012.
