Stupid.

I don't really see the point in paying for a torrent site. This is basically what one is doing signing up for this service. For about the same amount of money you could signup for services like Rapidshare which have an equal amount of content usually, and are much faster anyways. Not to mention you won't have to worry about your traffic as you aren't uploading a thing.

Of course, now any non-sweedish people can be tracked with their credit card paying for this service...

Re: Stupid.

Read the article again. You are NOT paying for torrents. You are paying for privacy. Which is useful in so many more ways than just torrenting.

Money the RIAA/MPAA could be making..

And to think, if the RIAA/MPAA would change their views and embrace technology and how everything is changing, they could be making some of this money for themselves.

You could purchase a prepaid, reloadable credit card and reload that with cash. Cost would be a bit more, but that might suffice for anonymity.

$6.80 wouldn't even buy you a used CD.

What is TBP stealing? They are just a search engine.

I think this just indicates that some people are willing to pay what they believe is a fair price for DRM-free content in the format they want. There is a market out there just waiting to be exploited.

caps?

So what are the caps on this? Otherwise I am putting my 1337 RAID torrent box that lives on my job's 100/100 ethernet port on a 2.5gbps link to Level 3 through the VPN. ~85 mbitps 2/47

Sorry to say, but I don't believe this is private. Just like people who pay for "private" torrent sites. All it takes is for one person who works for the RIAA to get on that site and they have all your info. Same goes for here. I fail to see how a VPN makes your activity private if someone from the RIAA gets onto the VPN with you.

There are many people out there who donate to private torrent sites to give them bandwidth or keep them in business. Then you have people willing to pay for Rapidshare accounts and download that way.

I have a friend who pays about $70 a year for a premium rapidshare account and pays $50 a year for private torrent sites for bandwidth and donations. He figures the $120 a year he spends saves him tens of thousands of dollars on music, movies, software, and so on.

I don't subscribe to this line of thinking, but there are people out there that do.

It would off Amazon's MP3 downloads. Depending on the sale, one might even be able to get a couple of CD collections of MP3s.
