I'm really interested in seeing what this phone has to offer. Although I admit it will be hard for me to give up the freedom of the windows mobile phone I have now as far as free apps etc..
The new iphone seems promising but the lack of a keyboard is a no go for me and the thing I dislike about my HTC phone now is I can't txt with one hand which is something the pre will allow me to do. |

| Go Sprint!
Sprint has been doing a lot of things right. I hope they can manage to turn around the ship of public opinion, which they had been steering in the wrong direction for entirely too long and which only recently changed course.
Pre will be awesome! It's from the people who pretty much invented the smartphone category at USRobotics/3Com/Palm/Handspring. If these people can't create the perfect smartphone, no one can - regardless of what the Apple fanboys tell you.
I just hope, and as a blackberry user - wish, that they get email right.
Email on a mobile device has been and will be the killer app - and no one but RIM can get it to work right.
Back to Sprint - their plans are unbeatable. Their customer service has improved dramatically - it's night and day. Their device line-up is respectable. And the network is the best.
If you haven't given them a chance or are a past customer who walked away due to endless troubles...take a second look at Sprint. -- »www.Digium.com |

I will be surprised if the Pre makes it on the market long. Apple has hinted that they will sue for patent infringement if it hits the market.

I've never had a problem with Exchange on my Windows Mobile phone. It works great and is just as fast as a Blackberry. I've even used the Windows Live app to push my Hotmail account to me, and most of the time it'll arrive on my phone before it even gets to my Outlook inbox. -- F R O S T Y

I'd be very surprised if that ever happens Because according to many many patent lawyers. Apple is infringing on MANY of Palm's Patents also. Would Apple really want to go down that road?? To possibly have to actually be counter sued and lose? Which would force them to have to pay Palm quite a large sum.. even if only 10 - 20 cents per sold item that could equate to... Well according to Jan 2009 17 millions were sold that would be 3.4 millions if it was just 20 cents per item. Of course it would most likely be much more |

A few people here have Sprint and love them and the coverage is excellent plus theres 3g also which AT&T's 3g in my area is pretty sucky. Their plans are also cheaper than what AT&T and Verizon offer. |

Microsoft's ActiveSync push is hands down better than the Blackberry implementation and Apple licensed it from Microsoft. Additionally, there is no per-device CAL required with non-BES devices and you're not tied to the RIM network.
And yes, I administrate both types of devices. |

2 edits | reply to kapil Sprint isn't bad. I've had issues with migration from Nextel. I do prefer the flexibility of GSM - with SIM cards and unlocked devices that Sprint and Verizon do not offer.
I currently have both a Sprint Treo 800W and and AT&T HTC Tilt. Both have their good and bad points.
As a business user, I do appreciate being able to use the internet while receiving a call (SSH session) on AT&T, while it will drop on the Treo due to EVDO not being able to support simultaneous voice + data.
Beyond that, network works well on both, although I do end up roaming more on Sprint than on AT&T.
I do have corp discounts on both devices, and it actually makes AT&T rates cheaper (28% discount).
My coworker in San Jose area has Sprint Moto Q, and has to stand by the window to use it. |

Yes, I agree - Their CS is great now. I have the old Sero plans and was on the 49.99/mo plan for 1250 minutes, and wanted to drop to the 500 min for 30/mo. I thought it was going to be a hassel doing so since they are grandfathered plans. I opened up a chat and within 5 min it was done and within 20min it was visible on my sprint.com account. That is the way it should be! Kudos to Sprint - no billing errors in over a year too! |

1 edit | Anyone heard anything new regarding SERO plans & the Pre?
Last time we were discussing this, I found an article that stated Sprint may not let current SERO plans onto the Pre phones, perhaps in a way of weeding out those accounts. I REALLY hope this isn't true. (I will try and find the article shortly), as I definitely would like to get this phone. I love my Centro, but I think I could be swayed for the Pre.
:EDIT: Well, it isn't hard to find, just GIS for "sprint pre sero" and you'll find a good bit of info, and yes it still looks like they're not going to let SERO plans onto the Pre...thats gonna be a deal breaker for me. May need to stock up on Centro's...hehe |

1 edit | SERO update
I just got a call today from Sprint CS retentions as my SERO contract is up next month. I asked about the Pre and was told that the Pre and the Instinct will require the unlimited plan for $99. Pre was specifically flagged as not eligible for SERO. |
