1 edit | Idea How about insted of charging users. Make a Pirate bay only torrent program. Put on ads then there is the website ads. Use that money to pay the RIAA.
Im not gonna pay to have people use my bandwidth and resources, limiting my net.
But If I get the stuff for free, just having to deal with ads. Yeah I could do that.
But it seems this guy wants his cake and eat it too.

| TOS / $$$ killer? So basically, TPB wants users to run mini-servers from their own computers while the "dumb pipes" see no $$. If this actually comes into existence and doesn't piss a few major ISPs off in one way or another, I'd be surprised. -- Join the RC5 team. | |

| Goodbye Stranger It was an early morning yesterday I was up before the dawn And I really have enjoyed my stay But I must be moving on
Like a king without a castle Like a queen without a throne Im an early morning lover And I must be moving on
Now I believe in what you say Is the undisputed truth But I have to have things my own way To keep me in my youth
Like a ship without an anchor Like a slave without a chain Just the thought of those sweet ladies Sends a shiver through my veins
And I will go on shining Shining like brand new Ill never look behind me My troubles will be few
Goodbye stranger its been nice Hope you find your paradise Tried to see your point of view Hope your dreams will all come true Goodbye mary, goodbye jane Will we ever meet again Feel no sorrow, feel no shame Come tomorrow, feel no pain
Now some they do and some they don't And some you just cant tell And some they will and some they wont With some its just as well
You can laugh at my behavior Thatll never bother me Say the devil is my savior But I dont pay no heed
And I will go on shining Shining like brand new Ill never look behind me My troubles will be few

| Rebuild or the (slightly) same? Will they be restructuring all of TPB to have only approved torrents by them and the industries? Or, will it be the same as it is now with the addition of the $9 a month fee? If the latter is true then I assume this will give me the rights to download whatever TPB torrent I use? If that's the case I'm interested to see how it works out. -- ----gg's and happy gaming---- | |

So who wants to deal with ratios that its impossible to upload anything because each torrent more than 1 hour old has 100 uploaders and 1 downloader, and 50 of the uploaders are seedboxes with a 10 ms ping on gigabit ports straight into a Tier 1 ISP. Your 1-2 mbps upload is nothing, you'll upload a few minutes and a few mBs, then the downloader is done and becomes and uploader, and you uploaded basically nothing.
Plus don't you know using a private tracker is the best way for the **AAs to get you?
Private trackers limit you to a couple of active torrents. Torrents go dead within a week or 2. So much for selection and a retention time over usenet and 1 click hosting.
Then there is the invite system, and all your friend has to do is send an email to the tracker admin saying you sold your invite, and then you and everyone you invited is banned.
Buying retail from best buy is less of a root canal than dealing with a private tracker.

2. How is a private tracker the best way for the **AA's to get you?
3. I've been using demonoid for quite some time now and I've gotten stuff that's OVER a year old so I don't see how there's a problem with retention.
4. Why would your friend send an email to the admin tracker saying that? -- »Check this out!

| Re: Public Trackers? said by fonzbear2000 :1. I've NEVER had problems keeping my share ratio up on demonoid. Even with stuff that's months old. Sometimes the inability to upload because there are no downloaders gets so bad that the private trackers create "upload only" torrents otherwise 75% of their users will get banned sooner or later unless they have FIOS or a seedbox in a datacenter or university. Few use "upload only" torrents and just ban anyone below ratio or extort them for $ donations.
2. How is a private tracker the best way for the **AA's to get you?
»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oink's_Pink_Palace
Raid server and get IP logs, or operate it as a honeypot, or just wiretap the tracker for months. Directv has been much better at it than the *AAs. »yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=···7/190232 »www.hackhu.com/

How many times you found the torrent dead or delisted after a few months?
An example from some years ago was »torrentlounge.com/ but the site changed ownership and isn't a private tracker anymore.
There is another site I have as an example, but I'm not near the computer that has that torrent to get the name of the tracker.
4. Why would your friend send an email to the admin tracker saying that? for the lulz

Seeding sometimes takes a while, but you just need to have patience.
If you don't trust a person enough to send them an invite to the site, don't. An actual friend wouldn't send an email to the administrator saying you sold your invite to them. I've invited people to various trackers probably 100 times and I've never had any problems with invitees.
I fear a bit though that the **AAs will be focusing more on private trackers after The Pirate Bay is gone. With TPB taking all the heat in the past, the private trackers were mostly safe since the focus was on the trial/getting people from public swarms/etc but now with the largest bittorrent tracker (and the most known) sold, they will probably move on to smaller private trackers.
