mad about iPhone policies

From only hearing the summary, I'd say he's just upset about the lock-down they have on the i-Phone. It's crazy to say that AT&T is stifling innovation in the mobile data market, they're the ones who started so much innovation. Of course they inherited that from Cingular, but still.. What had Verizon and T-Mobile done for innovation before the i-Phone came out?

I don't see how AT&T is dying... he assumes that because they are abusing their head start with the i-Phone, that they can't adapt to competition from Android. Verizon Mobile, there is a company that can't change it's ways. Maybe he should write an article about them, too. Will we say Verizon FiOS is dying when someone else finally does a nationwide fiber roll-out?

AT&T No Longer and American Company

Lucent Technologies which was the manufacturing and research arm of Bell Telephone, fired as many red-blooded American techies as they could and replaced them with Asiatic Indians. Every new product that they have tried to produce since then has been a disaster.

Thanks to the H-1B Visa Scam, there is no longer such a thing as American technology. High Tech wanted people who are required by their visas to work for the same companmy for 6 years and Uncle Sam gave them that. High Tech got what they wanted - these are the same people who screwed up 4 of the 5 versions of Windows 95 and at least 1 version of Windows eXtra Problems.

Every one of the high tech companies has self-inflicted injuries in part because they flat-as-a-dead-snake refuse to hire American.

I think the picture in telecom is much more complicated than "hire american"... it is Americans by-in-large that account for some of the most GREED filled bad decisions made in at least the past decade or more.. abeit the schmucks at the top making the most screwups.. not the schmo's making $8-50/hour barely scraping together our soon to be $4/gallon of gasoline again, just in time for the Holiday Shopping Season!

Even General Motors.. a company chock full of American Workers filed for bankruptcy? The reason(s)? Loads! But, lets focus on the MAIN EVENT one... LACK OF INNOVATION in the product lineup.. True, diverting resources to release small, compact alternative fuel vehicles at a time when sales where going through the roof for SUV's would have been a HUGE gamble.. but look at the company today? Part owned by YOUR tax dollars... AND IN THE PROCESS, BOATLOADS OF FIRED, AND RETIREES WHO HAD DECADES OF SENIORITY-- HAVE WORTHLESS PENSIONS, HEALTHCARE AND OTHER FINANCIAL COMMITMENTS GOT SCREWED FIRST.. THEN THE PEOPLE THEY ACTUALLY OWED MONEY TO-- SECOND,THIRD,FOURTH,FIFTH,ETC!!! Buy American doesn't always work FOR Americans.. because the greed at the top is in conflict with those at the bottom. Our dependence on foreign OIL makes this problem an EYESORE of an open wound a key facial feature of 21st century America (You see it on the faces of people just trying to buy groceries every time the fuel prices get translated into higher prices at the Brick and Mortar stores you shop in!). Will there eventually be high paying--fair wage energy jobs (that ends foreign depdendence) in the USA? Maybe, but not for you & me.. maybe your children or grand children.. but not US.

AT&T will fail or survive on it's own merits for lack of innovation at the last mile and shameful DUOPOLY PRACTICES with crappy cable companies who don't give a damn for innovation due to the fact that it will just drive their content business into the ground.. one megabit downstream & upstream at a time.

Didn't you think that AT&T would eventually see the light a begin to ramp up the hard work of FTTP? Well, it didn't happen.. and the company will pay a hefty price for this sooner or later. The cost of Docsis 3.0 upgrades also comes at a price.. in 100% of the markets you will see a hefty $300+ installation fee for 50 & 100 megabit plans.. which would never exist in a REAL competitive market.

There will be a lag period of growth due to the greed & non-existent demand for internet at over $100 per month. Until some killer application comes along and can replace their $100 a month video package and deliver it for free/almost free on the internet.. there isn't a real reason to demand such a service, just yet.

It's funny....

I would never leave att mobile with the way things are now, nor would i ever leave vz for internet & phone the way things are now, even though in some areas you could have att land phone, mobile phone, internet & tv, and in some areas vz mobile, landline, internet & tv...

As far as comcast, if they ever had a mobile phone biz.... it would likely set the bottom rung.

brave new world

how many of you anarchist-wanna-be wussies are ready to carry a gun and learn martial arts just to walk the streets in your W Gibson N Stephenson fantasy world? someone has to own the spectrum so they can get a reasonable return on capital; T and VZ are NOT arguably making obscene amounts of money idiots. of course they are blocking innovation, they are conservatively investing b/c WIRELESS SPECTRUM IS LIMITED AT CURRENT TECHNOLOGY. someone will innovate around that, and i am looking forward to it, but until then quit being ignorant whiny pussies
