| Homebrew PBX the Do Not Call list actually did its job for me. I haven't gotten a telemarketing call in close to two years now. Well, I still get them about once a month but they never make it to my home phone. I run my own Asterisk phone server and a VOIP trunk. I use a pay as you go plan for $5 per month plus 2¢ per minute, using second hand VOIP phones and a flea market bought computer to run it all. I have it set up so that when an unknown number calls, it plays a message to enter the extension of the party they wish to reach, or press '5'. That rings all the phones in the house if they press it. However the robocaller isn't smart enough to do that. And if nothing is pressed, the server then plays the "number out of service" tone that the robocallers often will follow and remove the number from the list, and then disconnects the call. I get about one a month into the server logs but I never get hassled by it. |
