And for me I get a sending error. The progress bar goes 4/5 of the way complete, then the error pops up. -- "So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb."

 | Why I hate AT&T. I was just down in South America for a week, and happened to have a 3gs unlocked and since I didn't want to be roaming at 3 dollars a minute I bought a local pre-paid sim card to my surprise as soon as I popped the SIM in, the MMS option became available. Furthermore the carrier offered prepaid customers a data option for $10 pesos (US$3.50) / 24 hours / 1 gig download.
I was there for 5 days, spent 50 pesos (or 13 dollars), had 5 gigs worth of download, would use skype over the cellular network to call back home (which I did very often). Was using SlingPlayer, was emailing pictures, at night at the hotel would stream movies and there was never an issue.
I really don't know what they're doing differently in Argentina (MoviStar), but I did notice speeds of 3Mbits a times both while tethering or using the SIM card in my unlocked USB Cell modem.
To make a long story short, why do I have to travel to Argentina in order to get deals like the one I got, and not here at home? Why can't AT&T keep up with other carriers? |

1 edit | I got mine working yesterday! I was running 3.0 with the 5.0 ipcc file an updated to 3.1 with the new 5.1 ipcc and everything is working great. I did have to change some of my carrier settings to get it to work though. So far I've sent and recieved about 90 mms's so far. I'm just glad to finally have it working.
Edit: btw I'm in Central PA. |

Re: Why I hate AT&T. they do it b/c they can. they have stockholders to protect afterall. and I am sure that AT&T in Argentina is a different entire company than AT&T in the US. |

Re: Yay ... not I really understand where you're coming from. I got my MMS working early and I have to say I'm not impressed with it at all. My biggest gripe is how it handles animated .gif files that have sound in the background. Any other phone I've had will play the animted .gif while at the same time play the sound file in the background. The iPhone doesn't do that. I was told it would....O_o. Anyway, what it does, when you're looking at the .gif in the message thread, it will animate, however, when you click on the .gif, it no longer animates. The sound file doesn't play in the background either. You have to click on the sound file and it brings up a blank screen and tries to play the file. Making the whole point of that MMS pointless because it doesn't play the way it was intended. I just thought with all the time Apple took to ready 3.0 and MMS that they could've that part right. |

 | Just my two cents' worth... I notice a lot of folks are rather elitist about MMS. I have a daughter in Florida who likes to stay in touch by sending me pics of things she is doing and things that are going on in her life. She has a little $49 piece of garbage that can do that. I, with my big-time Iphone, have been unable to send or receive those bits of info, and that is VERY important to me and my wife. MMS is a way of staying in touch easily and efficiently with family members around the country. So yes, it is important, and it's about time (actually years late) that AT&T step up and stop treating us like second-class citizens. They might re-read the old story about the "golden goose". |

Re: Yay ... not Not necessarily. It is probably more important to me than most people because I actually do get quite a bit of those kind of MMS. I just really wish it would've worked. LOL, that's all. |

Re: Just my two cents' worth... serious question: why did you get an iPhone if MMS and keeping in touch with your daughter that way is so important? surely you knew that MMS was not available and wouldn't be for a while. |
