Why fight?

I don't know why these baby bells are fighting. They are just going to merge together one day.

does this sound funny to you

Talking and surfing the internet at the same time. Does this sound like "Walking and chewing gum at the same time" to you.

What a joke I could care less about this whole issue. fight on AT&T and Verizon I will sit on the sidelines and LMAO.

Futile feud

It surprises me that so many people have horror stories with AT&T

We have been with them for about 10 years and moved throughout the west coast regularly with no dead zones... I'm not saying that other networks can't do the same, but why change it for reasons besides profit for Apple.

In addition, it seems that AT&T network CAN handle the usage and when posts come up like these, it creates a useless feud. Usually it starts from pure speculation and so on...

As for the iPhone, I have many friends with Verizon that wish they could have one on their native carrier, but that time has not come. Ideally I can't see the iPhone heading away from AT&T even though some people want it so badly on other networks.

I lived in Roseville till about a year ago, I now live in Yuba City. If you want to see what folks are complaining about take a drive up here via Highway 65 and spend the day.

My wife's entire family are Iphone users but even they will tell you that around here AT&T sucks. They get dropped calls regularly, lose their data connections mysteriously while streaming youtube etc, or drop down to edge when moments earlier there was "supposedly" a strong 3G signal.

Coming up 65 from roughly Wheatland to just outside Marysville they can never make a call and stay connected for over a minute or two.

No speculation involved, take a nice little drive up and see for yourself some time.

Voice/data simultaneity is useful...

...but multitasking apps is much more useful in my experience.

It's no big deal to have a phone call cut into a browsing session or temporarily suspend one's streaming music player.

It's a much bigger handicap to not be able to run, say, an IM app in the background while doing whatever else I want to do with my phone.

Until Apple uncripples their device's multitasking ability, they don't really have much of a leg to stand on here in my opinion.

Besides, voice/data simultaneous usage isn't all that useful if one's calls and data sessions drop frequently.

I live in NJ now and travel to NY and I have to say that atleast over here AT&T works fine. I have some dropped calls when im on the I-80 going to and from work but I know exactly where its going to drop. I always or like 90% of the time have 3G coverage and I do like the ability to be on the phone talking to friends and family and check my emils and web browse. Verizon does have better service all around but from where I live it doesnt matter much

Android is coming up

My brother and cousin has the iPhone and I have the G1 on TMOBILE. I've played with both phones and in my opinion I like the Android G1 better! I think at this point the iPhone is too overrated. Android will get better and better. Most of the apps in the Market for the Androids are free which I like! My uncle who also has an iPhone, says that AT &T network sucks...Too many dropped calls...

The G1 is not a bad phone. It's a little bulky but it's expected since it has an actual keyboard on the device.

You get yourself a 16gb micro sd card and a USB 3.5mm stereo adapter with mic and you're good to go. You got a nice iPhone alternative.

Android is definately taking off. 10,000+ apps strong. I had an iPhone on AT&T and when I switched to T-Mo, I found that most of the apps I had with the iPhone were available at the Android Market. WebOS doesn't have a future as Palm was too little and too late.
