Comments on news posted 2009-11-25 11:10:04: It's fairly common practice for cable carriers to blame their often bi-annual TV rate increases on the high costs their incur from broadcasters. Time Warner Cable appears poised to take this traditional tactic to a new level. ..

| | | "Cave In" HA HA HA. I went to their web site and pressed "cave in" to see what happens and the next page only allows you to press "get tough". So I canceled. Bet all they get is "get tough" responses since they really only give you one choice. | |

| My thoughts on all this I don't watch your major TV shows for the most part. I watch local news, as well as channels like national Geographic, history, and some of the various flavors of discovery channel networks from time to time. I also enjoy live ballGames, and the music channels. I originally had the variety tier, but needed to add the choice tier to my package in order to add 3 channels I wanted to watch. Of course I got tons more that I don't watch, but I'm not complaining. I recently discovered that the NASA channel was being carried on the choice tier, and since I'm in to following space missions, I was quite happy, though if I hadn't had the choice tier, and didn't get more than the channels I wanted, I don't think I would've known of the NASA channel being available, since on the web site, it doesn't even list it in the channel lineup. I pay $80/month for these packages. I was even going to get the HD tier, until I discovered that the 1 channel I wanted (HDnet), was no longer being carried. Why did TWC stop carrying HD net anyway? Can't they just carry everything and let the subscriber choose what channels they want? I only wanted HDNet so I could watch the space shuttle launches in HD, but TWC just had to not offer it anymore? What's up with that. Just offer every network available and let users pay for the types of programming they want. | |

Frank Zappa coined it well with his song " I'm the slime"
I am gross and perverted Im obsessed n deranged I have existed for years But very little has changed I am the tool of the government And industry too For I am destined to rule And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious But you can't look away I make you think Im delicious With the stuff that I say I am the best you can get Have you guessed me yet? I am the slime oozing out From your tv set
You will obey me while I lead you And eat the garbage that I feed you Until the day that we don't need you Don't go for help...no one will heed you Your mind is totally controlled It has been stuffed into my mold And you will do as you are told Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks.. Don't touch that dial

1 edit | It's about time for "a la carte" pricing. I'm about to cancel all the crappy extended channels I end up buying but don't watch. Maybe just pay for the locals and to get what tier has CNN, MSNBC, the CNBC and the Weather Channel and forget the rest. If I could just buy those four, I could save a bundle. | |
