McDonalds beat Congress to the punch of Nationwide Wireless

New National Broadband Plan... by McDonalds. Who said the FCC and Congress had to get involved...

WTF, 14,000 locations? and mine isn't one of the 11,000 with wireless.

They have competition too, Starbucks.

Now for diversity we need something like Hooters or a Arco to offer it.

Umm, if you are surfing the net at Hooter's, you kinda missed the point(s) of eating there.

It is a family restaurant and all the wait people are not women.
Although personally I hate the food so I never choose to go there, only when a coworker chooses to go there to I set foot i the place and I usually go home hungry.

Not a bad idea

Although I use AT&T DSL and get Mickey D's WiFi for free anyway, this is a good idea in general.

Granted McD's isn't the first place I'd consider going if I wanted browse the Intertubes away from home, but whenever I get work done on my car, there's a Mickey D's right next to the shop. I'll buy a coffee and sit in an unobtrusive part of the restaurant.

Since I work nights and prefer to hit the auto shop right when they open at 7 am, I can quietly watch people go about their morning routine while my car is being serviced.

And, so far, I've been able to use the only accessible electrical outlet without any hassle. Overall, it's kind of nice.

What would I need mcDonalds for?

I eat right, excercise, never have smoked (although I'm a social drinker), and I have 20 mbit cable internet, and 2.7/1.2 3g internet.

What would I need mcdonalds for? To join the rest of america?

I'd say you already have since you said you are a "social" drinker.

plastic?

I haven't seen plastic in a McDonalds in years... at least in our area they remodeled them all to look more like a fancy resturant with soft leather seats, warm earth tone colors and much better looking decor... the plastic seats of the old days are long gone within 100 miles of me

free WiFi at McDee's

The closest Mc'd's around here has always offered free WiFi; nice to see they are going nation wide with it.
