| | Comcast and AT&T are two seperate companies....BUT! They are "Scratching each others backs"!
To explain, I worked for MediaOne (and helped beta test cable broadband in my area). MediaOne was purchased by AT&T Broadband. For decades, Comcast wanted to buy MediaOne. Someone else always out bid Comcast. So, AT&T seems to have made a deal under the table. Keeps MediaOne for a year or a little more, then fires my whole internet tech support department and farms out all the calls to Newfoundland for internet support! About 6 months or so after that...AT&T sells its broadband internet service to guess who? Comcast! This was their "prior" thinking!
AT&T knew they had a new product coming out (U-Verse) and needed a backbone to piggyback on! Guess who? Comcast! I worked for MediaOne during and after they laid the fiber...it only goes along the power poles in a lot of areas...then copper to the house. Then, the speeds were really impressive! One thing I have noticed is at this point, it doesn't seem to matter which provider you use...ALL OF THE INTERNET SPEED has truly been "throttled" down across the net to allow more bandwidth to be sold! (Note the FCC and Comcast hearing lately for throttling speeds down)!
I bet MediaOne NEVER THOUGHT of this sneaky lowdown trick that AT&T did that allowed Comcast to be their "buddy" in real life...but "competitors" on the front lines! THERE is your Corporate Speak! Screw 'em all (John Q Public)...lets make more money!

AT&T bought out two companies or merged (MediaOne then Cingular) that I worked for then laid me off along with many others to better their bottom line! Just goes to show how much they really care about their employees who help them become so huge, doesn't it? They bleed every single penny they can get out of all their customers...and you're right, it only goes towards advertising! Gotta keep them execs in their Jags, Mercedes and corporates jets don't we?
So crank up the speed back to what it used to be...or someone else will come along and do it much better and leave both AT&T and COMCAST in the dust!!! I hope it's very soon! | |
