?

They say the modem rental fee adjustment is to help pay for the upgrades. That should only apply to ppl who are planning on using the higher speeds why should ppl who plan to remain on the same plan they have been using and are happy with see their rental fee go up.That can turn a smile upsidedown real quick.

believe we are about done w/ comcast

have been a life long customer with (in this area) comcast iterations of sammons cable, suburban cable, then comcast cable, & prolly more. believe we are at the end of our proverbial rope with comcast & their semi-annual rate hikes which far exceed any COLA. while they give you the "oh we need to pay for new services" line at each increase, the plain english equivalent is more like "we need to make more money for our shareholders so don't piss us off".

hey comcast, i could pay your increase, but i won't pay your increase. we are very soon to part----prolly in about 30-45 days. you can grease the shareholders w/ your usurious rates on the backs of other people. we are done.

Downgrade your service or switch providers if possible

Like a frog in a pot of water, they will continue to turn up the heat very slowly.

Downgrade or switch providers if you have a choice. Otherwise, they won't know that it's a problem.

Singularly driving up the market

How long is this going to be allowed?! They alone are driving up the market. Pretty soon everybody will follow suit. There is no competition because everybody is so expensive now. All the other providers have to do is raise their prices within a dollar or so and they can say "We're cheaper". This really disgusts me.

Comcast is a rip...

I have four choices for programming at my new house: Comcast, Dish, FiOS or keeping my Directv (my 2 year committment has expired). BY FAR the best deal is FiOS, which will give me 325 channels (100 in HD) and 25/25 Internet for 90 dollars a month, guaranteed for two years. Comcast's deal is 10 dollars less-for 100 channels and 12/1 internet-guaranteed for six months-then it goes up to at least 106 dollars/mo. My DirecTV package is 85 dollars a month for one TV in HD, two standard TVs (one with a DVR) and 250 channels-and I had to PAY $100 for the right to rent the HD receiver. Dish has some decent deals, but when you add in Internet, they fall short.

To me, FiOS is the best deal and by far Comcast is the worst-they can't even compete here in their home market (Philadelphia).

Why not go for a 3rd rate hike in a year?

On another note this better not be happening here as they have NO VOD or Voice service here. Also I got a installation and equipment charge hike starting last month as of JUNE 1st for my service area, I will post it in the comcrap thread later.

Comcast should concentrate on customer service... not merger

»bit.ly/c4I94P Comcast has plenty of work cut out for itself if it wishes to prove it is more than a substandard company defined by its awful customer support. Perhaps before the FCC lets the merger move forward adding to Comcast’s customer base, they should mandate that Comcast reconcile with its current customer base. If it cannot handle the scope of its current operation, it seems obvious that it will not be able to handle Comcast + NBC.

write your congressmen and complain

I suggest a mass letter writing campaign to our congressmen and let them know we are fed up with all the outrageous rate hikes and ask them to reauthorize the fcc to have control over rates again like they did before the telecommunications act of 1994.

FiOS works for me.

This is my 4th summer of FIOS and I'm at 25/25 paying $45/m for it.
We can get Comcast too in my city so I just simply remind Verizon every so often when they want to change my plan that "I'll just call Comcast" They leave my plan alone and then give me 3 free months of HBO. I love having competition available in the same city.

Just wait there will be more increases from Obama

Cable is getting pricey, we should be able to get and pay for only what we need but the big corps tell us what we need and how much it will cost.

Just wait until Obama passes new taxes and other FEE's these will add another 10% to are bills.

We pay for the "New technology" every year it seems little by little the good and the bad ideas. Instead of just putting in the top of the line once (like they did overseas) and give everyone choice and good service they upgrade every year over and over again little by little.

In the small towns like mine we get the old equipment that is removed from the bigger city's it is still good when it is installed but old technology when we get it. Funny how we (small towns) pay more before we even get the old equipment so these types of increases for the big city's should not be wide spread like they are (everybody pays).

apt timing

consumers already wary of the nbc merger picked a wonderful time to hike consumer rates. you would think at least when hiking broadband rates, they would start to push up the asymmetrical upload side a few megabits, but no... pay more, get less. then, the corporate spin is to "serve you better" as if rate hikes are in your (consumer's) best interest. there are generally other options out there for video and voice services-- so your not in a captive market for those. for the most part-- the comcast geography.. it's that, or at&t.. still, vote with your $$ and only subscribe to broadband from the mon/duopolists. even if it only saves you $5 over dual & triple play.

Turn off the TV

All the more reason to turn off the TV. It's amazing how little I really want to watch. TURN IT OFF. Really. You don't need it. It's shoveling advertising to you non-stop and you are paying for it. It's mindlessness junk that's just repeated enough to keep you addicted.

I'm ready to drop cable tv... now I just need to convince my wife of that.
