More speeds they CAN'T deliver....While it looks nice in their advertising and on their website, any long-term customer will tell you they have problems with being able to deliver speeds on a consistant basis on ANY of their speed tiers... |

hmmOthers are stating this will take place of boost and not be a new tier.
Also this will require a docsis 3 modem also. |

Get on a very busy node in some areas and prime time speeds will be significantly slowed. Node splits only happen after large numbers of complaints over a period of time. |

I call bullshit.. While I've had my share of issues over the last 10+ years with the cable modem it's by far the best option in the area and for cable service the best in the US. |

Re: More speeds they CAN'T deliver....Is that how you feel? I had OOL but dropped it after the teaser price expired. After they lifted the cap, except for the price, it was OK. I just got a letter offering me $30 a month for a year because I'm a valuable customer. |

Re: hmmsaid by majortom1029:Also this will require a docsis 3 modem also. Nothing special about that, cablecos the world over are migrating to DOC3 for anything 10Mbps and up now that quad-channel DOC3 modems have almost reached price parity with DOC2 modems since they quickly recover the small premium via more efficient outside plant and head-end resources utilization. |

Re: More speeds they CAN'T deliver....It's not all bullshit. Speaking from personal experience with both services, Verizon Fios has provided more consistent speeds at any time of the day than CV has done. In some cases [with CV], during peak hours, I'm getting 1/6th of my download. Other times, it's close to 100%. I never seemed to have that issue with Fios.
That said, I'm pretty happy with CV, overall. I am cautiously optimistic about this new proposed speed tier. You can read posts of some Ultra users who are having problems, and if you look in the CV Direct forum you can see many thread titles about people on Boost not receiving Boost speeds. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. |

How about 'OOL Minus'?How about 'OOL Minus'?
10/1 for $29.95 per month, like they had a decade ago. I'd buy that. |

Competition is goodGood to see, competition is a good thing for consumers. The upload is still to low for me (25/25 with Verizon) but I am sure some will jump at this. |

For that reason alone I doubt they will ever offer it. I jumped ship for Verizon DSL 7 years ago when CV raised the price to $45/month. So instead of 7*12*30 = $2,520(!), CV has gotten $0 from me. If they kept the price at $30/month, I'd still be a customer. |

Re: More speeds they CAN'T deliver....Not true, my node has 5 customers on it and even with a D3 modem, my nighttime download speeds are awful (e.g. last night at 10PM they were down to 500kbps). A neighbor reports similar issues. Have engaged CV via OOL Direct forum and there's a ticket open, but so far no relief. -- bc |

see here is a problem.I see a problem with every isp with customers you guys complain that they want to increase the pricing for there speeds you guys also have to think it cost money for bandwidth if you want more bandwidth yes you will pay more for it. So stop your complaining that it cost so much for 10+ mbps bandwidth. Yes I know you wont get what you pay for but still at lease you got internet connection right? You know most people are happy to get 512kbps + HSI over dial up connection. Avg customer only really uses up to 512kbps of HSI they basically check email and surf a bit. How I know this because I used to work for a local WISP as tech support. |

speeds aren't everythingif your going to charge about $100 for that you might as well pack it in already! what happened to 50/15 or 50/50 who's bright idea was 8 megabits upstream at least be comical and make it 11 megabits for 2011.. maybe if they offered this in oh, say 2008? more than a few days late and many dollars short of competition where FIOS is. |

Re: see here is a problem.this site and users don't care. They just want the fastest and best internet available at dirt cheap - read- FREE. Most of the users on here don't fully use their bandwidth unless their downloading 24/7 of illegal downloads (tv, music, movies, etc).
Users should be glad we don't have the 3 strikes rule on Internet or more strict caps. |

more than a few days late and many dollars short of competition where FIOS is. Cablevision had a service back in 2004 or 2005 it was release along with boost, it was ool ultra but not the ultra of today this ultra was a 50/50 connection and at that time they charged 200 a month. |

You guys are crazy. Upload speeds don't matter that much. Most people, including myself are just going to jump at that faster download speed. I use Fios now, and cablevisions speeds do vary...but I dont think the speeds can possibly vary that much. |

I've been having speed issues for several months now, one tech told me flat out that it can't be fixed. Another tech was supposed to come today, he called me and said that it's because of too many people using it in my area and that I should give boost plus a shot to see if it will fix it. Which I don't mind at all. I have boost now and if it's 5$ extra like he said then I'll do it and if not or it doesn't work I'll be switching to fios. Which I'm sad to do since I had relatively good service with cable ever I moved out on my own and I hate change. |
