I've love to see who's getting the kickbacks and money under the table for supporting something that will ultimately hurt consumers.
Maybe what should happen is AT&T+TMobile+Sprint+Verizon should all merge, and 2 years later the DoJ break them up again into 20 smaller companies. It should take them 25+ years to recombine again.

Making unions illegal would solve many problems The unions are the source of most of our problems, NOT the answer. They artificially inflate prices on goods and services to the point that many people can not afford things that should be cheap. I wont disagree with the fact that at one time (a long, long time ago) the unions accomplished good things, however now they are nothing more than organized crime. Kill the unions and make people actually compete for their jobs and you will see everything improve. I know its an outrageous, outlandish concept that people should actually need to work for a living!

once merged, CWA will gain all the technicians that work on the wireless gear ... as members. They're bargained for employees, in the at&t world. The dues alone, are more than enough 'grease' to keep CWA drooling over the approval of this tomfoolery.
The duplicate jobs that will be cut, as a result of this merger, are mostly management positions. The union does give two doo-doos about management level positions. Not even mid-level managers.
The only thing that would get CWA more fired up, would be if the IT workforce was unionizing. Unions have been drooling over IT for over a decade.
What burns my bacon (and did when I worked for at&t/SBC) was the mass e-mailings that would go out, urging employees to write your representatives in congress, or the FCC to urge them to support the merger. They made it SO simple. Fields that auto-populate from HR databases. All you have to do is click a button, and it's done.
What's more ... if you refused to do this, your manager would come 'talk' to you.
Yes! Back when the Ameritech merger was going on, my boss came over and actually had the balls to threaten my job, if I didn't click the button! Like Hell!

CWA is a union not a consumer protection organization The CWA is a union, which means its obligation is to look out for its member and increase the size of its membership, not to look out for consumers. The ATT/T-mobile deal is bad for consumers and this country, but it would take all the non management T-mobile workers and make them unionized(because ATT wireless is unionized, T-mobile isn't) CWA is looking out for its interests in this deal. All entities here: ATT, T-mobile, CWA and Sprint are simply acting in their own self interests. It is not surprising at all. The world would be a better place if the consumers and the nation's well being were put ahead of narrow self interest, but sadly that is not how corporations, unions, or people behave.
