| How many times can you find 500 bucks? Ya know, I like my Asus Transformer tablet. I have uses for it (which helped).
But in as much as I'd like to have a tablet with Windows (so that I was able to use programs maybe a bit easier considering my knowledge base that is), the thing is, well, it won't be free.
If they make it and it is awesome, will they come?
Well ask yourself, how many of you of the tablet liking variety can regularly pull 500 bucks out of yer ass?
Suuuuure if I had waited 1 more year, I'd be maybe using a tablet twice as powerful as the one I have. But I also wouldn't have been using a tablet for a year.
I'm sure even the apple fan mob is not made out of limitless cash (even if to some of us they often do seem to be that way).
Apple got there first and Android has done a fine enough job for those not interested in Apple. But I wonder, how many people are really out there with yet another 500 bucks just because now MS wants in on the action.
It's going to be a while before I can justify spending yet another 500 bucks, just because 'oh but it can run Windows....'

| Re: How many times can you find 500 bucks? Well, this creates the idea of just buy a laptop... you can sometimes find them for around $200.. yep $200... well really they are more the "NETBOOK" variety, but even more powerful than most tablets. The main differences are they are not touchscreen and they use a hard drive instead of a flash drive..
If there were just Apple and Microsoft making tablets, the market would be quite limited.. to put it bluntly.. if Microsoft invests big in this concept.. they will take a hardware bath the same way HP did with their hardware biz..
Google/Android took most of the non-apple marketshare and microsoft won't earn any of it back.. the price and flexibility of the o/s & hardware was barely ready for primetime with android 2.2 which made modern flash viable for tablets.
Eventually, you will see PC laptop/netbook pc crossovers running on SSD w/o keyboards and capable of 10hr battery life in this space. Microsoft might have better luck when the technology & price reach a sweeter spot-- but that's not happening for another 3-5 years. Right now, there's only so much you can do with a less than 10,000 mah battery pack.

I mean, if the OS is built to work with certain hardware, wouldn't there be less failures/freezing/headaches/frustrations that I see every fuckin day from a wide range of different model computer using MS OSs?
If MS thinks/knows that their OSs are really good, would you not want to showcase them in a machine that was built to run it properly?
I have an as load of HPs that simply fail at doing the simplest task such as...moving the cursor and then clicking something while still touching the pad. They simply can't do it. Now that has nothing to do with the OS. But why would you want your product in a machine that can't do something that laptops have been doing for many years before it? It makes no sense. -- Photoshop these nuts in your mouth.

On the other hand, tablets are relatively new, there are not very many that runs Windows, and I think their hardware in general is overpriced compared to Android tablets.
As for what really causing a machine to freeze -- sometimes that can be hard to figure out because there are 4 major components/layers, and any one of them can be screwy: a) hardware b) device driver c) OS d) application -- Wacky Races 2012!
