Translation: Humm was there to dump T-Mobile

Humm was put in charge of T-Mobile to oversee the dumping of it thru a sale and eventually as it turns out the AT&T merger. Now that Deutche Telekom is stuck with TMO, they need someone to grow it again and bring it back to profitability. He probably was never the guy for that task.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Just like anyone, certain skill sets are better suited for certain positions. But I agree that you're probably right in your assessment of why Humm was there.

But a sudden move, rather than finding and grooming a replacement first is disruptive to general management of a company.
It implies some impoosible condition was imposed by one side or the other.

That didn't JUST happen.
Humm must have been hoping to return to DT europe, but DT said NO!

It takes time for moves like this to happen. And it really hasn't been that long ago. He was probably wrapping up. I wouldn't doubt what you're saying either. I've seen it happen at other companies.

It lives!

Deutsche Telekom can't believe T-Mobile survived.

Now with a cash infusion and new spectrum to boot from AT&T, they will be able to support the iPhone too.

$5 says he starts a new job at Verizon Wireless w/in a month. He's no fool. Someone sold out on that spectrum swap deal. Guess we now know whom.

There may be a prohibition against doing that--inevitable disclosure and all that.

Crazier things have happened. Just watch where he lands. I can comfortably guarantee that it'll either be at Verizon Wireless or at one of Verizon's puppet groups or lobbying arms.

Sorry, released news says he is going back to Europe and probably never wanted to be in the US anyway.

From Deutch Telekom press release:
Humm is going to pursue a career outside of Deutsche Telekom so as to reunite with his family which stayed back in Europe

Maybe he's going home, maybe he isn't.

"The Wall Street Journal adds that "Mr. Humm informed the company in April that he intended to leave at the end of September so he could return to his family in Europe. Mr. Humm's exit was sped up after he informed Mr. Obermann 'a few days ago' that he would be joining" an unnamed a competitor."

Just In Time.

Maybe because he was afraid everyone would find out they are selling 4G phones that don't work anywhere but in the T-Mobile store where they boost the signal?

Yes, a career outside DT. How is your quote any different than what Romney said?

There are a few wireless companies in the EU he could be going to:

Or even a few in Germany:

Just as you quoted earlier, exactly what happened. Obviously not everything is as nefarious as some people believe. There's not always a conspiracy around the corner.
