Jobs and growth

I bet that Comcast didn't hire more people with the gain. I'm betting on more outsourcing.
Is Comcast really good for America?

Are statements like this that spew unsubstantiated opinions and then ask leading questions really good for America?

Outsourcing is the fault of our federal government's extreme levels of taxes and regulations, not Comcast.

Their labor costs for outside workers(technical labor); cust service; & sales all show increases. I doubt they are paying them a lot more, so they must be hiring somebody. See page 2 of below link:

A couple slides from Wall St presentation shows lots of info

A couple slides from Wall St presentation shows where money is coming from and where it is going:

Hardly any growth possibility left(at 96% now) in conversion to digital. All the old analog systems are almost gone.

Plenty of growth possibility in broadband internet(only at 36% now) as DSL dries up and moves to cable.

Capital investment running about $5 billion/yr

@comcast.net
They'll need to find a way to increase overall HSI revenue (which is under half of video revenue). Continuing to take former DSL users is one way, but there should be room for HSI price increases as well- which have been mostly stagnant. Eventual IPv6 support may offer additional modem rental fees.

Isn't HSI cheaper to deliver compared to expensive television content?

because raising prices is always the best way to get new customers, right?

And how do you suggest they give that IPv6 bit you suggested a $ value? Or is that just going to be another bullshit fee to charge. I understand businesses need to grow, but charging customers for something that you don't have to doesn't entice new customers to jump on board.

I guess what I am saying is that you need more customers to grow a company, not just increase the income from existing customers.

No!

Comcast is no better than AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, TW, RR, or Cox.

none, None, NONE serve rural America because it is not profitable. In the beginning they all did. In the end they all left for bigger bucks in bigger towns.

Now they are all making billion dollar profits while whining the merger between A and X was unfair. It was wrong because WE (the largest and fattest) was not allowed to merge with Z so we could control a whole spectrum of bandwidth we don't need anyway.

We have the same feckless and power-less FCC the Congress created in the first place. It is too bad Congress does not listen to real people in real places in America.

I don't know why anyone expects a different result when corporate creeps are the only persons invited to the "Hearings". It is a televised dog and pony show for WE THE PEOPLE who continue to elect them.

Money is money.. People labeled rural that aren't actually rural would be a great revenue for any company already established in the area for damn sure.. If your the only provider and don't completely suck. Guess who will get the business? Definitely not verizon with low caps and pricey overages on lte.. Not till someone wakes the hell up at least and realize that they would make a profit while allowing people to actually use the service...

Blame regulations and taxes all you want as long as you also blame Comcast for being greedy and your fellow Americans for undervaluing other Americans.

As long as the outsourcing involves other americans which in comcasts case usually does, i dont see any problem with it. Than again i have lived pretty well for about twenty years being said contracted labor.

Re: No!

Rural that isn't is usually a suburb. Fifty miles from nowhere is rural! They all suck because they all do the same thing: provide the least amount of services and charge the highest rates. Cable for instance charges $100 for 10/1. Telco charges $60 for 10/.512 and is more reliable. Both both bundle sucky Voip. But Telco pretends its a landline because it is digital delivered over copper. It doesn't work any better than a cellphone, in fact not as good most of the time. The only advantage to Telco is if the cell towers are down and the computer is down, I still have the sucky phone 9 out of 10 times.

I can understand the 50 miles from anyone else being labeled as rural, hell even 12 miles before your first neighbor definitely qualifies... Hell, i'll even go as far as 3 miles from anyone/thing being rural..

Me? I'm not rural, i'm in the broadband no deployment nexus from hell apparently

No rate hike then?

Good reason to pass on the rate hike then.
