That Microsoft patent sounds like a death sentence

Death sentence to any product expecting to use it.

Come on, do they actually expect people to willingly allow cameras to be built into TVs that can actually recognize you personally?

Man that is about as Orwellian as I have ever heard.

Not to mention if would utterly ruin the porn industry (considering the normal reason for watching porn is......).

The chances of my buying anything with that built in, is a great deal less than zero.

Microsoft granted patent on system that uses cameras

Microsoft was real slick with this. This is nothing short of invasion of privacy. No different than Aaron's logging into your laptop and taking snapshots of you with the laptop camera.

So basically if you have a family of 4, you could get a DVD at Walmart for $20 and the whole family can watch it. With Microsoft's idea, you will now have to spend $80. Maybe Microsoft would charge you $10 a person to watch the movie. The same applies to multi player video games.

Re: That Microsoft patent sounds like a death sentence

Not to mention if they pop up a screen asking for a credit card number because the room has six people in it instead of the registered family of four they will only encourage piracy.

I mean if I bought a DVD and it told me I have too many in the room for the current disc. I would go right to my PC, rip it and reburn and then start playing again with the DRM removed.

Hey DSL, it is time for good bye

For some of us, it's enough. Why should we have to pay extra just to support your needs?
