Comments on news posted 2012-11-26 08:39:12: ESPN has dramatically expanded the volume of ESPN content available to Xbox 360 owners via broadband, though you'll still need a traditional cable account to view any of it. ..

Not AT&T?

Why are we not surprised that AT&T U-verse is not cutting edge?

It's not hard to get it without a subscription.

"though you'll still need a traditional cable account"

There is no "you'll" in this. You just have to know someone who is willing to share their account login. I don't have a cable subscription but my mom does so I just use her account.

This is one of the reasons content owners are leery about providing their content over the internet.

1 recommendation

I'll feel guilty when ESPN's business model of fucking small providers changes.

Those of us "borrowing" a friend's account because it is not an option for us are still watching the commercials and advertising. So what's the quarrel again?

Not if you're using a DVR and skipping the commercials. Also the quarrel is you're not paying for cable. Thus ESPN is not getting it's $10 from the cable company from you being a subscriber.

people claim they want their TV provider to stand up to the content providers but if Dish drops ESPN 95% of those that want Dish to take a tough stand will bail on Dish and go with another TV provider that has ESPN. And that is why TV providers do not stand up to content providers.

Anyone that asks me to share my account info I'd tell them to go fuck themselves. No way I let anyone have access to my account info.

Though You Still Need Traditional Cable to Access Any of It

"Though You Still Need Traditional Cable to Access Any of It"

That's not entirely correct, it works on Verizon DSL, it most be a domain thing.

What about ESPN 3?

I've been a subscriber to AT&T DSL only, and had access to ESPN 3. I switched to time Warner Cable for the reliability, and am now expected to pony up $60 extra to watch ESPN3. I have Dish as a TV provider, so that's not happening. Reading the original post gave me hopes I'd have access, but it's just watchESPN...

joke

Hey ESPN and Xbox, come talk to me when I DONT need a traditional cable sub. And Xbox, your whole tv offerings with all these apps is bullshit. I want to be a cord cutter and get away from dtv and Comcast. I'm willing to pay for a gold/platinum account to do alacart programming.

You must have some serious issues with your children you need to address if you can't trust them.
