Apple RoutersWhile I have owned Linksys routers in the past, I have had the best performance from Apple routers.
Comcast tried and failed to unload their junky gateway but compared to an Apple router, that is like comparing public transportation to a corvette. |

What About VOIP Stuff?Linksys bought Sipura before Cisco bought Linksys. Linksys phones and ATAs have started looking more and more like Cisco stuff. Any idea where this unit is going/staying? |

WRT-54GProbably one of the best Linksys routers was the WRT-54G that became open source. I run Tomato on mine and it is fantastic. I wish they supported 802.11n and/or 802.11ac. |

ASUS / PFSenseASUS makes the best routers right now. However I'm only using them as WAP's after setting up PFSense as my home router. I'll never switch to a traditional home router ever again. PFSense is fantastic. |

The product is great. The web interface is horrible. That's the problem with consumer electronics makers. Either the interface is great and the hardware is crap or the hardware is crap and the interface is pretty. |

Blech!Ugh! Belkin is to electronics as Yugo is to transportation. This is sad news. Still have a WRT-54G v2 in service here, but dumped the stock Linksys firmware years ago. It's currently running toastman Tomato and chugging along like a champ. |

Re: ASUS / PFSenseI agree with you on this one. Asus do have a few firmware bugs, but all of their products run 3rd party firmware, incase the bugs affect you |

Re: Blech!I'm thinking about connecting back up my WRT54G v1.1 just to get some better 2.4 range in and outside my home. My WRT600n just doesn't seem to have the oomph!
I am admittedly a Linksys Router hoarder. Goodwill had a Linksys E2500 and WRT110 for $5 ea. Had to pick them up just to keep in my spare collection. I love a great deal. |

Cisco/linksys was akin to sprint/nexhellTotally different product lines and corporate mentality...
As another poster pointed out the x-Sipura VOIP systems, would seem to be a better match at Cisco, but again the culture clash is an issue..
So are they in the consumer side and headed to crapkin? |

Absolutely awfulThis sucks not only for the basic router/wap parts but for their nicer gear too. I bought a Linksys SR2048 (managed 48 port GbE with 4 mini-gbic) 6 years ago and I doubt Belkin could ever turn out such a piece of hardware even today.
All Belkin is good at is producing overpriced cables for sale at Best Buy & OfficeMax -- you know, the $20 USB cables and the gold plated "for better signal transfer" HDMI cables. |

Re: Cisco/linksys was akin to sprint/nexhellI never understood why Cisco ever bought Linksys at all to begin with. The two companies never clashed markets except at the very low end of small business(where mom&pop operations usually just ran consumer grade equipment.) |

Re: NOOOOOOO belkin sucks ASS!Belkin is the WORST net gear manufacturer. So new we can chose between the unquality of D-link, Belkin, and Netgear. |

Cisco ruined Linksys, left overs bought by BelkinWhen Cisco bought Linksys, the qulity of the Linksys products went south fast. I used to buy Linksys switches and print servers exclusivily but products produced after the buyout lasted maybe a year.
Belkin KVM gear is great. But now maybe Linksys is a step child that goes to the highest bidder. |

Belkin products are cheap junk.
Really bad quality!
Too bad Cisco couldn't have spun Linksys off as an independent entity. |

Linksys already went down the drainSo I'm not too worried about this one... |

Belkin buying Linksys. Not good. Best Buy may have had a heads up on this as I have noticed Asus routers in the local stores. As bad as Best Buy is they would not want to have fewer supplies competing to be on the shelves. |

Re: ASUS / PFSense+1
Love my RT-N666U. Way I see it, if their good good enough for my Mobo, its good enough for my router. They actually care about the internal parts and not just what feature set they include. Buffalo is decent too, but just their dd-wrt line. |

DamitHere I was hoping with their recent moves design wise they would just fold the Linksys brand into Cisco and called it Cisco Connected Home or something. Now I gotta go back to pay out the ass for Cisco quality stuff vs hoping it would trickle down to Linksys. |

Bye Bye LinkSysGuess I need to go to Fry's and stock up on equipment that mostly works. Belkin, rather burn $100 bills in the fireplace to heat the house. |
