Re: Cisco/linksys was akin to sprint/nexhell I never understood why Cisco ever bought Linksys at all to begin with. The two companies never clashed markets except at the very low end of small business(where mom&pop operations usually just ran consumer grade equipment.) -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

Re: NOOOOOOO belkin sucks ASS! Belkin is the WORST net gear manufacturer. So new we can chose between the unquality of D-link, Belkin, and Netgear. |

Belkin KVM gear is great. But now maybe Linksys is a step child that goes to the highest bidder. |

1 edit | Belkin products are cheap junk.
Really bad quality!
Too bad Cisco couldn't have spun Linksys off as an independent entity. |

 | Belkin buying Linksys. Not good. Best Buy may have had a heads up on this as I have noticed Asus routers in the local stores. As bad as Best Buy is they would not want to have fewer supplies competing to be on the shelves. |

Re: ASUS / PFSense +1
Love my RT-N666U. Way I see it, if their good good enough for my Mobo, its good enough for my router. They actually care about the internal parts and not just what feature set they include. Buffalo is decent too, but just their dd-wrt line. |

| Damit Here I was hoping with their recent moves design wise they would just fold the Linksys brand into Cisco and called it Cisco Connected Home or something. Now I gotta go back to pay out the ass for Cisco quality stuff vs hoping it would trickle down to Linksys. |

 | To those of you saying Belkin sucks..... I used to have a D-link wireless G router and had to reset it at least 3 times a week because it would always lose connection. I upgraded to a Belkin N+ and have to reset it no more than once every 2 months. I always get super good speeds with it and have literally NO problems with it with the exception of having to reset it once every couple of months, if even that. I've gone 3-4 months without having to reset it. They sure don't suck for me! Why does everyone put them down like that? -- »A pretty good alernative to bit torrent and newsgroups |

I never need to reset my router (pfsense box). The XyXel that came with my DSL ran for 9 years and I never had to reset it.
You should never have to reset a decent router.
Belken makes labels. Most of their stuff is outsourced and they stick their label on it. Just hope it works as I hear their tech support almost non-existent. -- Scott Henion

Re: WRT-54G I have the LinkSys E3000 (802.11n) which I run TomatoUSB on and it works fine.
I'll say though that the WRT-54G was probably the last "best designed" router from Linksys. Newer routers removed the external antenna because external antennas are apparently an eyesore. As a result the range on my E3000 is not as good as my older WRT54GL.
Tech companies should not choose looks over functionality. -- The Comcast Disney Avatar has been retired. |

 | So if Belkin is bad and Linksys is going to be bad. Who would you say would be the best alternative company and in what order would you rate them?
Asus ?
Netgear ?
D-Link ?
please list them in order of who you think is best and so on.
Thanks |
