América Móvil is a Mexican telecommunication company headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. It is the third largest mobile network operator in terms of equity subscribers and one of the largest corporations in the world.
6mbps is enough bandwidth for a single user on a mobile phone. 100ms is acceptable latency considering the distance to the tower. $45 is a great value.

Re: Let me say thank you to América Móvil Americans could save a lot of money if they'd consider prepaid. Their are many options, enough to fit most users needs.
With prepaim byod sim plans, you can have the latest and greatest gadgets while paying half what post-paid users on AT&T or Verizon pays.
Myself I pay $49 for unlimited talk, text and 4GB of HSPA+ data
I get twice the data I used to get on Verizon LTE, at half the price and no worries about overages, I'm just throttled if I use more than 4GB.
Even if you considered my bill entirely data costs, I'm paying 12.25 / GB. I pay Europe and Asia Pacific prices 
I think the major barrier to prepaid is knowledge, and lack of standards in the US.
Without knowing what your doing, the phones in the US can be confusing. GSM phones work on AT&T and T-mobile, but you might get stuck on edge if you don't know what bands to look for, and CDMA has carrier lock-ins virtually unbreakable. Though I know their are a few ways around it with certain mvno's and carrier's and now we have different LTE bands.
LTE isn't available on mvno's yet, but one day it will.
and sim locks.
If you can't figure out all of this, or at least know someone who can, your stuck with mostly older inferior phones. |

Re: It's all about the.. It's called GREED or a more appropriate definition would be `Vulture Capitalism'. A bunch of effin money junkies that are more concerned about raking in profits than just improving peoples lives with technology.
The dollars they are so effin eager to pilfer out of peoples wallets is worthless paper for the most part. Printed out of thin air, backed by nothing, and interest charged on it. |

Re: blame Canada Well I don't think is that bad here in Mexico, I went to a Telcel Store yesterday and found a special that had a Galaxy S3 for free on a 24 month contract for $599 MXP (close to $45 USD tax included). The plan had 130 minutes nationwide and 3GB of data, no so bad as I personally don't use SMS.
But everyone here in MX seems to hate Telcel somehow... |

| I agree that Tex got some of it right but your claim of prosperity, economy and economy doesn't quite make it either. The US is a Debtor nation (just look at our "deficit" and who we owe money to!). We're not in some economic golden age either as more and more companies come to grips with the economy. Our unemployment is way too high and even the reported unemployment percentage is not even taking into account those who have given up trying to find work. The US dollar is backed up by empty promises at this point in time. If our creditors called in their paper we would be up a creek and unable to pay off our debt. I don't blame TEX for being so agitated. |

| #1 reason why I don't use data on my cell phone this would be why I am glad I only have cellphones for talking and non data usage. As a matter of a fact I believe that if people could learn to live without using as much data on their phone we wouldn't run out of wireless spectrum as fast and it would help make the providers conserve bandwidth instead of just adding more to their stock pile just because we can. Thanks to all of the people that must use their phone to mess around and do nothing are going to be the death of OTA TV in the US. |

Re: blame Canada Here in Colombia , I get unlimited everything for $25 a month. 4g is an extra $15 us a month, but again unlimited. I don't know which providers they got their data from for South America, it seems a bit high.

Re: #1 reason why I don't use data on my cell phone I don't think the answer is to restrict a new technology in order to keep an old technology, I do think that as virtually no markets use anywhere near the amount of OTA spectrum available, their should be efforts to consolidate spectrum OTA in markets. As well as spectrum sharing in other bands.
Maybe smartphones and wireless broadband aren't important to you, but more users in america care about wireless broadband speeds than OTA TV. Not that I don't care about OTA in fact.
Unfortunately, it's already dead to me. When I moved, I tried to get OTA tv, I live approximately 28 miles from NYC towers in NJ
I live in an apartment, and you can't put antenna's up anywhere outside. The only people around here who can get OTA is home owners who pay for rooftop antenna's. |

Re: #1 reason why I don't use data on my cell phone In the old days with analog signals, you would pull all stations within 40 miles of your place easily. That's with cheap rabbit ears.
This digital OTA is rubbish, if the signal isn't perfect, you get nothing.
I used to be able to get about 12 stations with rabbit ears..now 1 station.

Re: Let me say thank you to América Móvil Most people would rather pay $200 for an iPhone or Android and pay $100/month on a 2 year contract, rather than buy the device for $700 and pay half the monthly in prepaid.
GSM phones work on AT&T and T-Mobile but the 3G bands are different. T-Mobile still uses AWS for the most part while the other carriers do not. So if you're switching to/from T-Mobile you'll end up buying a new phone if you need 3G (or 4G). |
