Yeah and we make more money while screwing the customer

"Don't give up on technology innovators," said de la Vega. "As we've seen major technology shifts in the past five years, from 2G to 3G to 4G, the the cost per megabyte has always come down.** We have to make these services affordable for customers, or else it will be impossible to use them."

They forgot to quote him one sentence:

**"While we charge you more and more per megabyte so I can line my pockets with more cash and screw the customer"

Screwing the customer? Consumers have choices. Consumers aren't required to give AT&T anything and therefor voluntarily chose to conduct business with the company. I fail to understand the assertion that AT&T is screwing anyone.

And att pays out pretty good dividends. Much more than my monthly att grandfathered IPhone bill.
If its too expensive use a cheaper plan,go elsewhere,or own the stock. I wouldn't complain about it all the time.Everyone have choices here. I don't see how people can pay so much to use cell phones. Guys I work with pay more in monthly cell bill than i pay for all of my utilities at home.

I fail to understand the assertion that AT&T is screwing anyone.

AT&T is the meaner half of a predatory duopoly whose entire day-to-day focus is driving up costs for everyone along the entire ecosystem, crushing all competitors, and lobbying government to keep it this way, but "openbox9" somehow fails to grok how AT&T is screwing anyone.

Some of this site's regulars are trolls and comedians of the highest order.

So says an anon. poster from, apparently, another country. I fail to "grok" why you think that AT&T is screwing everyone.

"trolls and comedians" certainly will gain you a lot of respect.

For clarity, I have AT&T U-Verse TV & internet, AT&T cellular, and AT&T landline and don't feel like I am being screwed.

But, hey, hate away, it is your right.

You being willfully oblivious to AT&T's bad behavior on a larger scale doesn't magically make it not exist.

at&t sucks

let me relate a little fiasco i just went through in getting their 4G service for my kindle fire HD 8.9 with 4G.
i bought the kindle to get 4G little did i know the hoops i would have to jump through to get the service. for some reason their system would not see my street address for some reason even though it shows up on google maps and i have no trouble getting deliveries and such where i live.
i talked to 5 different people trying to get their service, nobody could figure out why my address would not show on their system, they encouraged me to use somebody's else credit card to pay for my service.
i ended up typing in false address to get the system to accept my credit card with the correct address.

Really? Care to prove your allegation that I am being willfully oblivious? Didn't think you could. Snicker at Alex J.

I would suspect that I have more knowledge of AT&T's behavior than does an anon poster from another country.

Re: Yeah and we make more money while screwing the customer

The fact that AT&T and Verizon often times in many markets are in fact a Duopoly, who follow suit on each other's pricing results in them operating more like a monopoly than a carrier competing in the free market.

In wireline networks the competition is even more consolidated than it is in wireless, with agreements between the telco's and cable companies to reduce competition.

They both have extensive lobbyist groups whose single aim is to rig the playing field so that competition is harder if not impossible. Most rulings today in cellular business is virtually written by the big 2 carriers for their own benefit.

This companies can do no wrong idea, because their is supposedly competition is a old and blatantly wrong assumption. As is dismissing options because people don't live in the US. It is entirely possible to get a clear picture of the lack of wireless competition in America, without living here. Last time I checked the information on the internet was mostly available worldwide.

As a normal customer who does not have the means to afford substantial stock, I see things very differently.

Obviously, MovieLover76, you are as good as the others above at making generalizations about people. Care to prove that I own stock in AT&T?

Where did I say that I think that AT&T can do no wrong. As for not being able to afford stock, it is only somewhere in the neighborhood of $35. There are other providers of service besides AT&T, you know.

Re: at&t sucks

That stinks. FWIW, this happens all the time, especially with DSL subs, etc. If there's any sort of bad or outdated data on the provider's end, it can most certainly be FUBAR and require a heck of a lot of phone calls to straighten out.

Out of curiosity, did you ever go over your 250MB allotment of data for any of the first 12 mos.(?)

Wow, ok. I didn't realize VZ/T were a predatory duopoly driving up costs for the other nationwide providers and number of local wireless carriers. Thanks for actually enlightening the rest of us how AT&T is screwing its consumers, many of which are long-term subs.

My apologies, it was another user who stated he owned stocks.

Otherwise my opinion still stands, your comment about other wireless carriers competition has already been addressed in my previous post.

No, I am not. But this attitude is not limited to just AT&T.
