| Something is wrong When you can buy the bluray (physical, you can sell in the future) for less than the streaming rights.
I will never subscribe to HBO for $17/mo because there is no value there. Even if I watched 1-2 shows it would still be cheaper to buy them rather than subscribe.
HBO likes it's cozy relationship w/ cable providers because they can easily bolt on a subscription and most people never do the math as to if TV in general or pay TV is actually worth it. I know people who just watch GOT and pay the $17 vig. No that's stupid. They don't even know what go is.
I just downgraded from ExtremeHD to Select HD and that will cost me a grand total of $74 including 50/25. It is a no brainer because VZ would have charged me the same just to have internet, and it would have cost MORE to bundle 50/25 with broadcast. Before my bill was $112, so I'm saving $40 a month, which in 1 month would allow me to buy the GOT Bluray.
I can't wait until FIOS gives me a roku app, because then for all those little TV's I can get rid of my xboxes and save even more $$$. |

 | HBO sucked me in with Game of Thrones After this season I am dropping my HBO subscription. I almost did last year, but wanted to watch True Blood, but the last season was disappointing so no reason to keep the service after the 13 or so episodes of GoT are over. -- no .sig found, please restart your browser. |

Im curious to see how Netflix's model of releasing every episode at once works out for them. I would love if more shows were released this way. Its not like HBO is living off commercials in the middle of episodes. |
|
 | No, but if they released all episodes at once, people that only want GoT will watch it, and cancel within a month. By doing it for 10 weeks, they are getting 3 months of subcriptions. |

I dont know if you are aware but Netflix released House of Cards this way and my point was Id enjoy GoT being released that way but wondered how the model would work out for Netflix on HoC.
It seems from this article I pulled up its kind of working for them, at least in Canada. »www.theprovince.com/Canadian+Net···ory.html |

MichailPremium join:2000-08-02 Boynton Beach, FL kudos:1 | reply to Michail Netflix has done a wonderful job at transforming itself where as many big companies try to hold on to their old business models (such as Blockbuster, Kodac, etc.). I hope they shake the industry up some more.
The cost vs convenience of Netflix is hard to beat. Though many people still like to rip them to shreds. |
|
 | Great Journalism I'm inclined to believe HBOs PR department review results from a spider scanning online references to their shows.
Furthermore these results are then reviewed by humans.
To conclude, if articles are never critical of business practices so much as show content, then reform will NEVER take place. No guarantees this article will effect any decision going forward, but there exists a chance, albeit very remote. |

Even better! I just seen the article about it specifically mentioning netflix is why I didn't mention the others... But thats pretty cool, Kudos to AMC for actually thinking for a change instead of following the herd tard mentality |
