Fiber savings

Fiber does indeed save money with lower operational costs. But unless telcos shut down their copper overnight, many don't see those savings yet.

Re: Clearwire...noooooooo.

Silly activist investors trying to do right for the company and their investors. What's wrong with another source of funding? Or should the investors bend over in the Softbank acquisition of Sprint and therefore the acquisition of Clearwire?

Re: Clearwire...noooooooo.

Wrong, they bleed the company dry and then the parasites move on to their next target. Activist investors have ZERO interest in the long term viability of companies. They're in it for short term gain only. Loaning more money to Clearwire without a long term viability plan is pointless, it just puts Clear deeper in debt. What they want is to keep clear going just long enough to gut it and sell off the parts, like buying a wrecked car just to part it out rather than fix it.

Without Softbank and Sprint, Clear as an continuing entity has no future and SB/Sprint win in their acquisition because they get wanted spectrum while Clear customers keep their service and see it expanded.

It's their money. They want at least some of it back.

Agreed. I assume there's a plan. That's usually what activists come to the table with when pushing a company for action.

It isn't all their money. They just want to control the entire game without paying for it. Meanwhile if they want it back they are free to sell at any time.

It's investors' money, whether from holders of equity or debt. What do you mean without paying for it? Of course investors are free to sell at any time. It would most likely be at a loss, which is why you see activist investors trying to steer the company in a better direction.

Activist investors don't speak for all investors.

I didn't suggest that they do. They do tend to hold large portions of outstanding debt/equity though.

And only have short term gains in mind even if it destroys the company.

Activists like this are not long term investors. They are poachers.
