NOT FACT

You do realize that these are just rumors and not facts right? These rumors were also rampant about the ps4 before they announced they would not require an always on connection. Also, SONY is kind of backing off the blocking used game statements, originally they said they would not now they are saying it would not be good to and we should not, and that developers and publishers may block them yada yada.

hey hey hey

Re: NOT FACT

So someone that works for Microsoft basically publicly says it its true, it's a rumor?

Would be really stupid

There are people who play games who don't have internet connections. Like, oh, people serving in the military in far off lands or on a ship that's at sea. They need to realize that this is a totally ridiculous idea.

I thought we were going to see an all-download system, which would eliminate resales without being obvious and obnoxious about it, and being able to tout it as better. This is just idiotic. At least a download system would allow the user to download the games to the internal hard drive and then go somewhere else without internet.

Not a big time gamer

I'm not a big time gamer, but the day my console HAS to have an always on connection, is the day I either switch consoles (have always liked Sony better) or quit gaming forever!!

Come to think of it, I haven't had the Playstation on in a couple years!!

it's just not consumer friendly

Having to have a game connected to the internet when it doesn't share information over the internet, therefore requiring you to be subject to adverts (STEAM, boy you make ME steam alright), or simply to track your usage for marketing purposes (can't even play a game without someone wanting to use that information for something, nosey pukes), is asinine. Look it up.

What gives a third party company that doesn't pay for your internet access the right to tell you how to use it? Oh right, you bought our games, and even though you didn't need it before, you better get it now, or all that money you invested in products is wasted now..that's gonna go over well.

Hey Microsloth!!!! Why don't YOU get with times, stop trying to control gaming in the home, stop jerking consumers through your OS firehoops, and stop telling people how to use devices after they have paid for them. I for one am NEVER going to buy a console for the home, I don't even like the fact that my sons grandfather bought him one: He's never getting my money to pay for MS online gaming crap. And they aren't going to use up MY bandwidth for anything.

DNS

all you got to do is change the DNS servers to a phantom server
problem solved.

then play your hacked/used game

you can still play a few. ps2 games using phantom servers with custom DNS /ip settings
