Comments on news posted 2013-07-08 14:26:11: The Xbox One may suck quite a bit less now that the company has backed off restrictive DRM, but the console may still raise the bar for annoying snoopvertising. ..
Parents come to your apartment and you turn the X box on for some Netflix, before Netflix comes up there's a condom ad, beer ad and an ad for the play boy channel. LOL.
This type of thing, like almost everything they make will most likely just be the proving grounds for their crazy ideas...yeah, it's definitely lame to be privy to things of a testy nature when you're not actively seeking them out, but then the ones who are really asking for this kind of thing (most likely for use in a place where it would make MORE sense like in a browser online or certain PC services or Apps) won't pony up for it without the proven incentive. It's actually more annoying that those people aren't just accommodating and do things, instead of users having to be needlessly inconvenienced for their benefit. That's business though, on the backs of the product-er, public...$cha-ching$. =[
bet if you use black tape the xbox one will stop working till it sees motion in the room
Save your black tape and save your $499. Don't support it. Don't buy it. Let it die like the HD-DVD.
There are other alternatives. You don't need the buy into a system that is going to spy onto everything you do unless you're an exhibitionist or don't mind.
And don't worry about missing out on the "latest games", once developers see that the xboxone is going to be a failure, they'll stop releasing games on it.
can detect a user up to 3 feet from the sensor (compared to six feet for the original Kinect)
However, users retain the software capability to turn off all Kinect functions while the sensor remains connected to the console.[126]
Software capability to turn it off? Well there's a foolproof solution! It's not like Windows has a history of losing your settings and just changing stuff at random...
I didn't think it was possible but for once we agree.
Though maybe it should be secretly bury in desert next to failed Atari E.T. cartridges. It was the game so bad that they literally buried the already made carts so nobody would know how bad they fucked up.
This is just one more reason I won't buy the latest xbox. I have preferred the Xbox to my Playstation since the original was out and have fond memories playing halo to the early morning with friends. Unfortunately, MS has decided to take their gaming machine in a poor direction and I won't be purchasing the xbox one. I am sick of advertising as it is, I don't want to pay for a service that makes even more money by continually forcing me to watch even more commercials. It is bad enough advertising is making it's way into game the way it has, but enough with this already.
Wow, how are people going to get any baking done with all of you people snatching up all the tinfoil?
I swear, the so-called tech crowd . . .
Normally, there would be nothing to be alarmed about. However, lacking an ability to opt out (of a gimmick peripheral nonetheless) raises some concerns.
U people bi$ching about ads are the same ones not bathing about googles monopoly on ads . Alll while u use Google phone tablets and that crappy TV thing they got.... I for one hope Ks makes as much on ads as the next man, as long as I can play my favorite exclusive titles nothing else matter (halo forza fable dace central fitness evolved ) I don't give a flying funk about they watching me dance sound in my living room naked... guess what else u stupid uckers if u wave a gun on and empty street with government cameras everywhere the olive are not going to just show up . Unless someone calls them u stupid rackers
This is similar to peeping Toms, except I'm sure the EULA states you explicitly grant them permission to watch the goings on in your home.
What do they do with the pictures of you caught in flagrante delicto? And can you sue for that? Certainly terms of use do not permit them to view you when you engage in sexual acts within sight of the device? Although I'm sure there are some out there that would actually LIKE that option. Pervs ;p

they might sell those sex movies!. there is a legal term called an "unconscionable clause" where a certain contract clause would be rendered invalid. letting someone spy on you at any time just so you can use a game machine sure looks like one!.
