On pay as you go, but...
... I agree on the AT&T store service.
Went to get a new sim and number for an old blackberry for temporary gophone use and even though they weren't making a sale they handled the switch and number setup in a professional manner and got me on my way quickly.
Too bad radio shack can't forget the cell phone sales long enough to handle my in store electronic component needs as well.
Will return to AT&T, RS probably not.
Agreed both the Corp Owned and Dealer Stores I had to Secret Shop were very nice, and the last time I was in their stores was 2009-2010... Maybe they are finally "getting it".
must be on a store by store basis then, because when I went in to outright buy two SGS3s this january, the guy kept trying to sell me a service plan, and telling me that the SGS3 would not work with the prepaid carrier I have(Straighttalk), and all kinds of other bullshit. I ended up having to tell him, after nearly 20 minutes, to either shut up and get me the phones, or get me another person who will sell me a god damn phone, or im just going to leave and you are not going to get any business from me. His manager came over, told him to go home, and apologized profusely. Turns out, that the store had no SGS3s left in stock anyways, but she tried to sell me an iphone instead(telling me how great they were). I pulled my current Iphone4s out of my pocket and told her that I did not come here for an Iphone that I already had, and left. The store on the other side of town happily sold me two SGS3s off contract, and even called their contact center for their SIM unlock codes.
TL:DR store by store basis says some stores just have shitty employees and management, while others are great. We have one of each within 10 miles of each other, and the nice store hears about the shitty one all the time, and can do nothing about it.
Yea I heard that about the corp store vs dealer. Dealer was pissed they didn't have any of the latest phones yet corp gets they day of release, so they keep having to send sales to corp stores.
Consumer Reports ranking is more accurate
Wife's on ATT. If it wasn't because it's a company phone, she'd switched already.
I only trust Consumer Reports with this kind of ranking.
When it comes to electronics sometimes being behind can put you in front in a year or two. You jump ahead because you are installing the new technology at the time. In the area I live in which is a collection of small towns/cities 1 to 2 hours away from a major city I am noticing more bars and 4G. I heard from a friend they are about to light up the area with LTE soon.
I was in a ATT company store and someone meet me as soon as I came through the door asked why I was there and assigned me to the next free agent. The place was crowded but the wait was short.

Re: On pay as you go, but...
These were two corp stores, and long after the SGS3 came out...
ok, but we weren't talking about your experience...
okay, so how many people have you heard from that got kicked off or disconnected? You hear of it less and less, as it creates such a negative PR, that ST is doing it less and less.
I have a feeling
that this line doesn't mean a whole lot!!
"AT&T recently toppled Verizon for the first time in a JD Power & Associates ranking for customer satisfaction with carrier support."
The Firefox alternative.
Another dig at Verizon
I see this trend continuing, especially with Verizon snubbing its existing customer base, by requiring it's grandfathered unlimited data customers to pay exorbident prices for data plans that provide dramatically less data if they want to upgrade their phone.
