Cerberus, the company that makes money from buying gov't bailout companies and selling later, looks like they are checking out Blackberry. I wonder if Canada will be doing incentives for the buyer of Blackberry?
Private equity firm Cerberus is interested in taking a look at BlackBerry's books as a prelude to a possible bid for the troubled smartphone company.
BlackBerry announced last month that Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. signed a letter of intent that "contemplates" buying BlackBerry for $9 a share, or $4.7 billion. Fairfax, BlackBerry's largest shareholder, is trying to attract other investors. It's unclear whether Cerebus is seeking to join Fairfax's deal or bid for Blackberry on its own.
Cerberus has a history of investing in troubled companies, including Chrysler and Air Canada.
A Georgia woman has identified herself as the voice of Apple's Siri service. She is a voice actress. I don't think Apple will like her doing that in an interview.
The voice of Apple's voice assistant Siri has been revealed as Georgia-based voiceover actress Susan Bennett.
Bennett made the revelation to CNN, eight years after lending her voice to a 2005 project for ScanSoft, which eventually acquired Nuance, the company that powers Siri.
Bennett decided to reveal that she was actually the voice of Siri. She'd spoken with CNN's Jessica Ravitz a few months ago for a separate story on the voices that power announcements at airports, at which time Ravitz had quite by accident asked if Bennett was the voice of Siri. Bennett was coy at the time, but recently came back to Ravitz to reveal her secret.
With iOS 7, users now have the option to select a male version of Siri, so Bennett's voice might not be as omnipresent as it once was. Her voice does not power Siri around the globe; in Nov. 2011, the voice of Siri in the U.K. was revealed, while the Australian Siri stepped forward earlier this year.
I can't believe BlackBerry never had a group secretly working on an Android or Windows phone as soon as their market share started tumbling. There's still a lack of good smartphones with keypads, they could at least have filled that niche and had 1 profitable business going.
The United States brought criminal charges against 13 suspected members of the hacking group Anonymous on Thursday for aThose charged ranged in age from 21 to 65 and lived in 13 different U.S. states.llegedly attacking government, credit card and lobbying websites in a campaign in support of internet file-sharing.
A grand jury indictment of the 13 people was filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, charging them with conspiracy to intentionally cause damage to protected computers as part of Anonymous' "Operation Payback."
The hackers launched "Operation Payback" in retaliation for the 2010 shutdown of Pirate Bay, a Swedish internet service that allowed users to share files such as films and music, according to Thursday's indictment.
Might get the new phone on Telus after I sort out shared data plans with my family. Looks like a epic phone. Couldn't try it out at Future Shop today because I get florescent light headaches. Might try eating some ice cream beforehand.
Baseball all day every day, all on cable though for the first round of the playoffs; I found channels I didn't even know I had.
Baseball is pirate proof as it is live, tomorrow it will be yesterday's news and they will be playing a new game.
P.S. thank all of you movie buffs for paying for the MLB network; Dolan gave in.
Haven't seen too many people pirating that 3 hour long documentary about paint drying either :P -- "when the people have suffered many abuses under the control of a totalitarian leader, they not only have the right but the duty to overthrow that government." - The U.S. Declaration of Independence
Another robot system may eventually be capable of self assembly like the liquid steel robot in the movie Terminator 2. It just needs to be miniaturized 1st from the current larger components. Really freaky. Check out the video.
Funny you should mention that... I was just talking to a friend at work (he is a sports fan, I am not) and asking him if the game was available the next day without all the commercials and time-outs and things that make a 1 hr. game into a 4 hr sleep fest if he would watch that instead.
There's always a way around it. If you subscribe to a DNS service, change your settings to a non-US/non-Canadian server & you're good to go to watch the Playoff games on mlb.TB

Not really. There are plenty of sites out there that stream pirated live sports. It's far from the best audio/video quality, and can be a pain in the ass, but it works. I only stream pirated sports on a rare occasion. Like every December when my Bills are blacked out locally, because no one wants to freeze their ass off watching a lousy non playoff contender at the Stadium. I also stream the occasional UFC fight. -- 4/17/13 - A Beautiful Day For Freedom, Thank You United States Senate! Message to Anti-Gun Liberals: HA HA! I really like the most expensive one. Definitely that one. I also wish you would purchase one already so you can be free to move on to your next obsession -- Time is an abstract concept invented by carbon based life forms to monitor their constant decay.-Thunderclese
Got my new flooring for the bedroom, I decided on the Lowe's Project Source in Amber Oak.
It's sitting in the bedroom in the unopened packages as it has to acclimate to the conditions in the room.
I just need to pick up the underlayment. I'm getting rid of the carpet in the bedroom for allergy control.
I think I'll do it over Columbus Day weekend, as that is a three day weekend for my mother who can help move things around. -- I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner and I currently have DirecTV. They are much better than broadcast TV.
Apple has no say other than not renewing her contract. I doubt they can trademark her voice if its her natural voice being used for Siri vs a faked voice which is something voice actors can be skilled at and can be trademarked/copyrighted(ie the Simposons voice actors have to get permission from Fox to do character voices if they go on a talk show or news interview).
See Fox can own the rights to the Simpsons voices because they are not the natural voice of the voice actor. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

No need, with Cablevision if one wants HD one has to rent a box for EACH TV. With the so called free HD comes 100s of channels most I don't watch but MLB was just added. TNT and TBS carry most of the early games.
I'm waiting for the NFL and MLB to put the Super Bowl and World Series on pay per view.
