For now

The FCC is only open for now. They could shut down again in Jan.

doesn't

Doesn't matter, fcc or not, the telecos and broadcasters get their way no matter what... It may actually be cheaper for them if the FCC isn't around.. How does it benefit us either way? It won't.. The core original use of the FCC was good, but seems like these days they just hold hands and gangbang the citizens of the country

The FCC was created FOR the Broadcaster and only for them. There is a video/movie on them. They were only created to protect radiowaves from pirate radio stations. They were latter given power over phones, and such.

We would be better if they went back to their original purpose. radio waves and nothing more.

Ted cruz is...

...once again ignoring the reason FCC commissioners are SUPPOSED to be insulated from the political "fads" (like the tea party) They SHOULD be doing their work in a political vacuum, using SCIENCE and existing treaties to determine regulation.
Political messaging and revealing it's source should be regulated under campaign finance laws (imho REQUIRES FULL DISCLOSURE of EVERY DOLLARS source)

Wheeler was a former telecom lobbyist, with a past with CTIA and NCTA, he lobbied FOR AT&T's takeover of competitor T-Mobile.

The guy is anti-competition to the core, what's wrong with blocking a guaranteed rubber stamp for the telecom industry??

This guy would gladly let Verizon and AT&T merge, he'd probably say they should just go by the name Bell System.

I can't wait to rent my next phone, marked "Bell System Property NOT FOR SALE".

And this is something new with the FCC?

As is stated above, the FCC needs to go back to what they were created for and leave everything else alone.

Doesn't matter...

It doesn't matter if he's blocked, it will only be temporary. In the end, he'll be confirmed. Even if by some miracle he isn't, whoever is appointed won't actually do anything to help the public.

Re: Ted cruz is...

My comment was in reference to tshirt See Profile.

He's saying this is Tea-Party political meddling with the FCC, but it's not political, Tom Wheeler is a paid telecom lobbyist, he needs to be blocked from running the FCC.
